Earth to GM -- if you want to upsell premium audio in your vehicles (e.g. MyLink), then provide a premium experience, such as software and firmware updates. Otherwise we may as well just order your cars with a hole in the dashboard (or a basic AM-FM radio, same basic idea) and go aftermarket!

So, not specifically related to mylink software but it was 115 in CA last week, and I noticed a popping noise over my speakers. This occurred until the air conditioner got the car to a nice cool temperature. Since that first day, every time it is over 95 I have the same symptoms. Any suggestions?

So, anyone know the current software version for the United States? I too mine in a couple a little over a week ago and they said my mid-year 2014 with 20.00 was up to date.

I updated my 2014 Ford Flex with a flash drive a couple of weeks ago. It was nice to be able to do it yourself.

I had a new mylink installed about a month ago because of problems. They updated the new one to the newest firmware before I left the dealership.

Are there new applications available, or any noticeable changes to the existing ones with the newer firmware?

I have Bringgo and two others and use none of them. I tried Bringgo, and it was OK, but since then I've tried Waze and it's MUCH better and more user-friendly.

I do Like the MyLink for the Phone and Audio though.

One update I'd like to see would be to the phone. I hate trying to use that scroller to get to the name I want. I wish they had a # and A-Z menu, so I could just press M and get to M's to find MOM, rather than scroll through the whole thing.

When in reverse with the camera on if you tap the screen you get menus to adjust brightness and contrast. That was pretty cool

I'll have to come up with an issue or two so they'll "reprogram" it. They said they could only touch it if there was a problem. In other words, GM needs a reason to pay for it.

I checked my software version and it was like 13.1-xxxxxxx so i called up my local chevy dealership and they repeatedly told me that there is no update and others told me they dont know what im talking about or know how to do that. I had to go out of town for a couple of days so i called the chevy dealership near my hotel and they knew exactly what i was talking about and updated it for free with no questions asked. it took a few hours but now its on the 24.1-xxxxxxx and works great. I also didnt have xm radio before and now i do so thats def a big bonus.

Good to know, I'll call another dealer. Also the reason you have XM now is that XM is in the middle of their 2-week-free deal, it'll go away end of this week or next.

Sorry for the late reply. I missed your question. I didn't really notice any differences with the new firmware at all other than the system stability seems to be improved.

USB play forgets last song

So when I play USB, it rarely remembers the song that was playing when I start the engine the next time. My searching has shown it is common and not exclusive to Sonics. It is not software. It is most likely solved by changing the usb power supply to one that is always active after the car is turned off. There was supposed to be a GM bulletin on this. Has anyone seen this or knows how to do the wiring change?

I use a USB stick too. I keep my CD's on it. Mine always remembers the last song I had on. When I restart the car, it starts it over from the beginning.

I will say that I DID have "Other crapola" on my memory stick and I had issues with the organization and finding songs. It didn't seem to work right with the MENU. So, I took it in, plugged it into my computer and removed everything else EXCEPT the music. I had a folder with some video's from my camera, plus a folder with the Software that came with the USB stick itself. Once I moved them off there, and onto my computer, things got a lot better. Now it's well organized and I can get to any of my CD's easily.

Mine's a 2012, and I am not sure what I have on there for firmware. But it seems to work great now.

Having driven both Base radio and Mylink one, my only gripe is that with Mylink you can only connect one phone at a time. with my base I can connect my phone's phone call only to the stereo then my wife can connect her phone for music or to stream whatever.

Yeah that's sad. I would also love to have one phone hidden in glove box with BringGo and my main phone for music and calls.

My question may have been covered in this thread or a separate thread but my searches have not confirmed an answer.
I've tried 4 different thumb drives of all different makes and none will play AAC music files. The drives are formatted to FAT32 with only one level folder for each album and all play from my computer
I read on here someone say that only MP3 play on MyLink but the FAQ on the MyLink page on chevrolet.com says:

"What file formats are supported for songs and playlists?
Chevrolet MyLink supports a large variety of song file formats, including MP3, WMA and AAC. It also supports the following playlist files: M3U standard and extended, iTunes, PLS, WAX, ASX and RMP."

So are they out to lunch on that FAQ page or will MyLink truly play only MP3, which I currently don't have?

Thanks for the link, however I ended up converting a few tracks to mp3 and now they play fine through USB >MyLink.
So it seems AAC does not play from USB thumbdrives.

So what phones can you actually charge off the upper glove box USB port? Motorola G is no go. HTC One is no go. Unrecognized devices apparently so the Sonic cuts off power right after I plug them in.

@kpetrie77 iPhones, Galaxy S3 and many more with low power draw can although you have to make sure that there are no apps running on this phone and the screen is off or the power will not be sufficient to successfully charge the phone.
