Advise on how to get mylink updated
My local dealers seem to be shocked that I would ask for the latest software and are not willing to do it due to simple bugs without me paying $150. This includes King Chevy in Longmont, CO and Loveland Chevy in Loveland, CO. What is a good strategy to get this done, and for free? My current version is about 2.5 years old. The car is still under warranty.

should I be able to have more link apps on my mylink? I only get Pandora and about three others?

While your looking at one of the audio source screens, look for a small button labelled 'Menu'. In there you'll find another button 'Tone Settings' with a 3 band EQ and fader controls. Any adjustments you make will apply only to the currently active source, so you'll need to set those adjustments for each source, which is good because different sources often require different tone/EQ adjustment.
I assume you've already found the 'Auto Volume' option within the 'Settings' on the main screen?

What is the latest up to date version number on the MyLink in the Sonic's? I just bought a Sonic RS in October and I'm curious if it has the latest or not.

No. Android apps work via bluetooth only. iPhone apps works via USB only.
As I suspected you were lying to us.
The dev menu actually allows for all modifications. It allows access to Windows CE 6.0 and you can modify virtually anything. Of course developement skills are needed.

TL;DR Just enter the code "20110827", then go back to settings -> dev mode -> explorer mode. Voilà!
Warning! If you don't know what you are doing - don't do it. You can break some stuff by accident.
Wow, very nice. As I suspected (see what I did there? LOL) you didn't know there are two different development menus. That is for equipment oem the other is for oem troubleshooting; which is the one I was referring to earlier in this thread WAAAAY back when.
Ps none of what we offer requires or uses those menus, as I told the gentleman that found the code a few weeks ago
Also if you read that thread the only thing that they have been able to do thus far (apparently in the last 20 pages) is brick the unit.

While he has an interest in keeping the method he uses secret, I don't agree with calling the guy a liar. That being said, if this works and I can copy the contents of the flash media... I may be able to load it up in a VM and tweak a couple of things. I don't promise anything... Thanks for the code.

No cd's in the RS, but you have Bluetooth or USB available. I keep a USB key with a bunch of favorites, then load new stuff I pick up on my phone and play via Bluetooth for variety.
it's not the size, it's how you drive it....

Ok... So I have done some digging into the firmware and I was able to extract it. I now have files and some interesting looking xml files... I am not sure of how I am going to compile the information and post it. I am also not done analyzing all of this... I have found some interesting things in the config files, including a set of items called CodecBlackList... For those of you who want to customize things there are some promising things I have found. Basically it will be like customizing the original android phones... all the animations are actually separate PNG's & Bitmaps...
More to come, please stand by. Oh and I have found on other forums (thanks to google translate and a lot of guess work) the speed sense for videos can be easily overriden, and Mirror link can be added just by copying some exe's to the 2 partitions...

The way this is working right now is I am just pulling executable from the available firmware. I have not found a carplay executable... but there is a lot there for me to look at...
