A quick glance at the tach will tell you what gear your in - in case you forget what gear you most recently shifted into.
Been driving sticks for decades and never thought of having a gear indicator.
It's highly unlikely. The Turbo 4 Camaro would lose sales to a Chevy with less cost and more power potential...Any chance they're putting in some real power this time around for the RS. Or that they'll release an SS version? Anyone know. I'd love to buy a Sonic with an SS badge on it!Plus it's the only way that I'm gonna trade in my Sonic.

....if it has tits or tires it can be upgraded

Ford has a better pulse on the hatch market, but Chevy is coming along. I believe once the T4 Camaro has some time to develop Chevy will give the Sonic some love.Ford did not seem worried about that with the Fiesta and focus ST.
The Fiesta ST at the auto show will generate more sales for Ford while the Sonic not ao much.. The marketing disparity was interesting to see.
Some concerns:
1. Why such a large lower grille? It looks like it's trying to scoop up plankton.
2. Why a non-functional upper grille? Doesn't even look good, so why?
3. Why did they copy the rear end from my wife's Spark? No originality there.
4. Why a RS badge up front and an LT badge at the rear?
5. Cloth seats? Let's pull out the best we have for an auto show premiere!
6. Same Hankook Optimo tires huh? Let's see if nobody notices any change there.
7. Does Chevy listen to anyone?! Where is our ~200hp FiST fighter? Is the RS just a worse gearing version of the LTZ again?
8. Again, does Chevy listen to anyone?!? Performance is what we needed. The styling was great. Looked like a compact Evo rally car! But now it's just a chubby Spark.

It's merely a matter of convenience. What you are suggesting is to do the math based on my speed and rpm. I'd rather just see a gear # on my dash. My complaint is valid and i guarantee I've been driving stick just as long.

I don't think your complaint is valid, and your guaranteed is bogus.
I was driving a stick decades before you were born.
I first drove a stick since 1969, and have never had a gear indicator on any manual transmission vehicle I've ever driven. I've never even had the thought of wanting one.
Maybe I'm just more into cars than you are. I don't need to do math to calculate what gear I'm in.
I may be old, but I'm not so old I can't remember the last gear I put the car into.
It is odd...in a way... They'll make 600+ HP Camaro's Corvettes, hell the new Impala will have over 400 hp.... but the lowly Sonic and Spark trundle on with minimal attention... I'd say that would be a good entry for new GM buyers... don't need to make 100K a year of them, just enough to make people say "What's that?"
Oh well, this is just an MCE, an all new Sonic will probably arrive late 2018'ish.... let's see and hope!
you confuse sufficient with exhilarating... The Fiesta ST is that example... senseless, too expensive, not great MPG's... but fun to drive, carves the road, emphasizes Ford's sporting nature.
An RS badge ain't quite the same.
agreed...an SS... and yet it exist in theory only...
Wouldn't have bought anything but the turbo.. GM should be grateful I bought it!
It's COMPLAIN
