Everything worked through the touch interface. But unless I'm missing something, seemed kind of useless to me. You need mirror link dedicated apps, it's not a true mirror. On my note 5 there are maybe 10 apps. And they're all the same. Only one I could get to work was Sygic nav, and I had to disable car mode on my phone to get mirror link to work in any regard.

I'll stick with Samsung driving mode, works pretty darn good with the mylink
....if it has tits or tires it can be upgraded

So if thats the case im more interested in someone porting over android auto so that way i can use google maps with mylink. Since the system has been unlocked is porting over the android auto app from the 2016 model possible

I believe it's new hardware, which explains why the update won't be backwards compatible.
One can hope, but for now I'm happy with my set up

Today I tried listening to music via Bluetooth and no sound was coming out. I tried resetting the Mylink settings and restarted both Mylink and my iphone but still nothing. Yesterday, the sound was very dim, but at least I could hear it when turning up the sound. Now today nothing. Any suggestions?

have you done the unlock to your system? and you can try cutting the power to the battery for a little bit. If you have done the unlock you can try returning your system back to stock with the backup you should have made

The backup was the first thing I did before attempting this, and to be extra cautious, I made another copy to another USB stick. If anyone is going to do this, they should also do the same.

Is it possible you have volume too low on the Bluetooth side. My understanding is that the my link keeps different volume levels for each input.

I didn't do the unlock to the Mylink. I went through the settings in Mylink and my phone and there are no Bluetooth specific volume levels. It's weird because I had my gps through my phone this morning and the woman alerted me about something and nearly gave me a heart attack because I wasn't expecting anything. Maybe it's from the specific app. I'll check when I'm on the road later and keep you updated.

Okay, so I unlinked and "forgot" all Bluetooth pairings, closed all my apps and restarted both Mylink and my iPhone. After restarting I paired them again and tried several different apps and still no sound. I even played with the Mylink settings to see if there was anything preventing the sound (low volume, muting, etc.). I did some more research online and couldn't find anything except for known problems with iOS 9 and bluetooth but nothing about sound not working over Bluetooth. Overall sounds more like an iOS problem and not Mylink. I'll have to keep researching.

Is there a video that has been made that is a 100% walk through on how to back up the mylink, unlock it then how to restore it from the back up if there is a problem?
Is anyone in the US willing to try the Russian MirrorLink trick with the new recall update? I was just about to do it then found that some people are bricking their radios in the process...but that was back in February, so I'm unsure.

So for anyone wondering, I said "f**k it" and went ahead with it.
Follow Kraken's tutorial. The latest update from GM for the radio (the recall update) is 24.1, Krakens is 24.5. I installed the update Kraken provided and then did the MirrorLink and Video In Motion install. Everything went according to plan, steering wheel works, mirrorlink shows up, etc.
Here's what I found though:
1 - Video in motion works well, steering wheel controls work as expected.
2 - The video in motion fix DOES NOT bypass data entry in motion. Driving while using BringGo, it still tells me the car is in motion, and that I can't type in an address while I'm moving. I DID NOT however test the ability to add a phone via bluetooth in the system menu though, that may be working.
3 - Mirrorlink is extremely touchy. I've got a Galaxy S5 which is a compatible phone so no problems there. First, your phone has to be wired to the USB port, and MirrorLink needs to be activated in Settings or Settings/Other Networks. Second, you need compatible MirrorLink apps. My test was with RockScout. After much fiddling and trying, my phone finally connected, but since I didn't have any RockScout compatible apps installed, I couldn't do much more. I then downloaded and installed Sygic (which my phone didn't recognize as a MirrorLink compatible app until I installed Sygic Car Navigation) but was unable to get my phone to connect to MirrorLink again. I have seen a possible trick (via the Button Savior app) that may allow you to home out of a MirrorLink app and just browse your phone, but I haven't been able to test it yet. There's some weird sequence of events that I don't know to get your phone to connect.
All-in-all, it's meh. It was fun doing the process, but so far there's no major gain (apart from watching videos) to doing it. The best gain was using explorer mode to change the radios loading screen to the original Sonic The Hedgehog loading screen.
I'd love to see someone fiddle with this more, but as of right now, I'd just hold off till someone finds the golden ticket to modding these things.

That pretty much sums up why I stopped trying to figure out the roms on these things. There really is not enough room to put anything useful in there... and getting android on there would be a PITA (drivers for undocumented HW etc). ******* Windows CE is pretty difficult unless you are dedicated to doing it.

I just bought my car last week and I think it would be amazing if Android Auto worked with my model. I just heard, though, that they're only supporting it for 2016 models and above. :sadbanana:

I am having an intermittent issue with the MyLink. When I turn up the volume on the steering wheel, the volume goes down until I release the button and press it again... then it goes up. It happens a couple of times a week but only on the way home from work, when it is warm out. I am not sure if it has anything to do with having the steering column replaced after the EPS failed or not... it is really weird.

My forward collision alert has been "sticky" lately. It will alert then stick in mute. I've kept it off with no issues lately
