It's too bad that Chevy can't replace the old MyLink radio with the new one so that we can get the latest features.
I have the 2015 LTZ Turbo model. The tap 10 times on the right to access developer mode does not work. Not sure how to manually update the firmware on this thing. I have a Nexus 6P and it doesn't even recognize my device.
I believe you need to tap 10 times in the top left corner to access DM.
Making any changes in DM is risky, and firmware updates would need to be done by the dealer, which may never happen.
Are you sure your phone bluetooth is turned on? have you tried plugging your phone into the USB? The USB is also a data port and might help MyLink to recognize your phone.
UPDATE:. My Sonic got a recall notice for a faulty alarm sound so I took it in today. I told them that the USB connection says my [phone] device isn't supported, when it should be. So they updated MyLink from 23 to 24.5. Still no MirrorLink sadly. It is, however, able to connect via USB with my Nexus 6P now.
I again tested the developer mode access on the new version of MyLink. Tapping 10 times in the top left corner still does nothing on version 24.5 on 2015 Chevy Sonics. Does anyone know an alternate way to manually add MirrorLink to the MyLink version I have?
If you use, or plan to use BringGo, I had warned people to not do that key chime safety recall yet. For some reason, that firmware update actually backdates the BringGo app on your MyLink radio.
As for getting into developers mode, just keep tapping the upper left screen till the login screen appears. It seems to take 12 or more taps to get it to appear. But you need to be on the home screen first.
As for MirrorLink? You can download the config file from one of the YouTube videos, a few have a link for it. REMEBER!!!!! Always copy the original to your flash drive FIRST, as a backup. Also remember, follow the directions in the videos, because you need to paste the new file in TWO locations. And most definitely follow the directions to reboot the system, or you could brick your radio.
Lastly, I did try MirrorLink. Perhaps it is because I have the HTC ONE M8 Android? But MirrorLink did not work at all for me.
why is this happening?
I can confirm that if you have the dealer recall update to 24.1 you do not need to flash to 24.5 if you want to enable video in motion.
The only part of KrakenRedBeard's unlocking project I used was the part to enable the video in motion - copying the MgrMcm.exe file. I first made a backup copy of my original MgrMcm.exe file just in case things didn't work out though.
I did not try to add the MirrorLink, as I have an iPhone and wouldn't be able to test it anyway.
Steering wheel controls work, backup camera works, and I have video in motion on the 24.1 recall update.
I also changed my loading screen just for the fun of it!
Thanks to KrakenRedBeard and everybody else involved in figuring out these MyLink systems!
Hi everyone,
I had the chime recall performed back in May this year and ever since I have had issues with Mylink and the screen. I have a 2013 Sonic RS, and intermittently when I turn the car on the screen will sit at the dimmed "MyLink" screen for over a minute before fully turning on.
Also, this past week I turned my car on and put it in reverse to see it now thinking I have a backup camera. It will say to check my surroundings, then say to service my rear system or whatever. That coinsided with my steering wheel controls on the right side not working (volume, src, skip, voice command, etc).
Now my wife is saying our brand new Silverado's screen is taking a while to load and sits either blank or at the dimmed "MyLink" for a while after turning on the truck!
The dealership says they haven't heard of any problems or similar issues of course.
OT: Does anyone else show trackbacks to less that reputable sites as already pinged in this thread?

Yeah... I think that happened when we had all of those Russian spammers... I don't think the admins would do that. At the same time they should be aware and turn them off if it wasn't on purpose.
I wonder? When you contact OnStar for directions, they download it directly into our MyLink radio, and it displays on it. So I wonder if it might have been doing some sort of over the air updates? Which also makes me wonder, can some hacker also get into our car systems?I have a question that I hope I'm posting in the right place and that someone can answer.
Something weird happened to my head unit (my stereo) last night. I got in my Sonic when I got off work, turned the car on and started driving home. A couple of miles down the road I noticed that all the lights, with the exception of my tack and speedo, were not on. You know that even if your Mylink unit is turned off, it should still show the time display. My first thought was that I blew a fuse. So I tried to turn the head unit on, and after pressing the power bottom for about five seconds, it turned on. I turned it back off and, again, none of my lights were working. Something else I noticed was the small indicator light that's on the rear view mirror, next to the SOS button, was red instead of green. I tried to use my signal to alert the traffic that I was going to pull over, that's when I noticed that my signal lights were not working. I started to panic because my bumper to bumper warranty has expired. But I pulled over and turned off my car. I waited about a minute before turning it back on. When I turned my car back on, the problem was gone. Now, this morning I got in my car to go to work and after I turned my car on, and announcement came across my speakers saying "This vehicle is equipped with OnStar unlimited services ", my Sonic has never done this before. I have owned my RS now for two years.
Has anything like this happened to anybody else on here?

Hackers? I'm wanting to believe that Mylink was doing an update. But what's weird is that in my two years of owning this car that had never happened. But if someone could hack in to the Mylink system it would post a serious threat because it seems to me that the head unit in the Sonic is directly tied in to the cars computer.[emoji52]I wonder? I haven't had the update done yet, but I am due for an oil change. Even without it, I find the Mylink Radio either being off, or coming on slowly, like it was reset, from time to time. It's really random. But I can go weeks without driving, so not sure if there's a reason behind it. Once it comes on though, it's fine.
With all the other issues being talked about it just doesn't seem they know what they are doing with these updates. Seems they are putting old ones in, or the wrong ones in.
When I go in, I am going to tell them NOT to do the UPDATE. I'll even have them write a note on my receipt saying I declined it and I'll initialize it.
If they say it has to be done, Ill go elsewhere. Sounds like Chevy engineering and tech support are clueless as to what they are doing with this.

You can use the mirror button, and call OnStar to check if they might have sent an update. Infotainment Support had suggested I do that in regards to my BringGo issue. So it appears they are able to do some remote updating.Hackers? I'm wanting to believe that Mylink was doing an update.
