It's only a sales opportunity if YOU let it become one. They're sales people, of course their job is to sell more than what you came in for. You only get sold what you agree to so it's a pretty simple transaction to say "just the oil change, thank you"yeah, if you are under the impression that it is merely a sales technique or just a dealer being really nice to their customers. It is in fact, a way of them getting you into the dealer to inspect and find problems... and as said, imaginary or real.. matching <<<eyeroll>>>
Service Writers upselling doesn't change the fact your first two years of recommended maintenance were covered for free. So saying "free oil changes are a marketing scam" is quite far fetched.
