My turn, I guess.
28,200 miles. 3.5 yrs.
At least the replacement part is fairly cheap.
I figure it will take less than 5 minutes and that includes stopping to drink Iced Tea... 1/4 ratchet swivel and extension.
I ordered mine here and tracking says it comes today ....12 16 Chevy Sonic Genuine GM 94537633 1 8 Engine Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Hose | eBay Roger Dean Chevrolet West Palm Beach, Florida, $44.50 delivered to door.... My local dealer wanted $68.00 for the part and $100.00 to put it in. I figure it will take less than 5 minutes and that includes stopping to drink Iced Tea... 1/4 ratchet swivel and extension....AT the same time I decided to change air filter (Purolator) for $7.99 on sale....
Mine too, almost the exact same mileage. I wonder if it is worth it to get the warranty to replace it, or just get the K&N? Maybe both, as I am in CA and I don't think the K&N is CARB exempt yet.
I still think GM should reimburse for this part since they admittingly changed the material it is made out of in the middle of the Sonics production run
After several months with a P0171, I finally looked at the hose between the Mass Air Flow Sensor and the Throttle Body. I think that it is call a snorkel hose. Several ribs were torn and I now understand why I received a lean mixture code. The air was passing into the engine through the torn ribs. Cost me about $55 to replace and roughly an 1/2 hour to figure out how to get to the tightening screws and then install the new one. Watch hose direction, it does matter which way the replacement is put in.
Can you send me a pic of the part when it's connected? I don't see any cracks on my hose, but it may be on the lower part that I cannot see.
Just thought I'd share my experience in 2018. I also have a 2012 with over 50,000 miles. After buying it only last year i found the air intake duct cracked. When i took the Sonic into the dealership there was a added warranty that was put there automatically for a full replacement. It took 2 hrs of labor and free of charge.
