I feel the whole system is a waste of time and money, and worse that it adds weight to the tires, which is the worst place (well maybe the flywheel) to add weight to your car.
I've been driving cars for more than half my life, and this is the first car with TPMS. Have I suddenly become incapable of glancing at my tires when i walk up to the car, or of every couple weeks running a tire sensor on them all? Nope. So what is the point of this system?
I mean sure, I guess it would be nice to get a warning signal if I'm losing pressure while in the middle of a long drive, but I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times this has ever been an issue, on car after car, and that is to say on some really bad balding radial wires sticking out tires, too.
I'm concerned that the PA state inspections might require TMPS, but I think the logical solution is to keep the sensors in my stock tires on my stock rims, and run my real wheels without the damn things.
