I was looking around at injectors and i came across this.

Is it true? 96.7lb/hr injectors for the sonic?

As far as I can tell the website is just named SonicPerformance but does not sell a single item for our cars so I'd imagine those injectors are not for us.

yes but they do look like sonic injectors. But, if not I think someone needs to make roughly 50lb non-e85 injectors

We shouldn't buy them....... More fuel doesn't equal more power. But if you want to research. Google 60lbs injectors, you'll find plenty results. I think Ford v8s use them.

The stock fuel pump won't drive enough fuel even if you were building something that you thought would require these.

E85 with a MUCH larger turbo might need to pursue these, but unless you are seeing 90%+ duty cycle on 440cc (42# injectors), you're wasting your time.

Hm. I think itd be cool to pursue. 60lb with roughly 400lph pump maybe 2. Aftermarket turbo pushing idk. 30lbs (big turbo). Im thinking you could make 300hp. I may be way off im not good with gasoline engines

Well I plan to run a much bigger turbo, but quite a bit less psi, like maybe 18-20. The bigger turbo is to move more air, not compress it.

I don't even plan to run 60lbs injectors unless I find out the 42s go static.

I would consider the 42lb but I dont want to run e85. I understand it may be better but I cant get e85 where I live

You don't have to run e85 on the Bosche 42lbs injectors. They are NOT e85 specific.

You will need your tune adjusted though for any size injector other than stock.

E85 takes more volume of fuel to make the same power as regular gasoline, it's just capable of running more power if you can deliver enough fuel to do that... but that's why the 42# are necessary to see the "more power" potential. You can (I have) run E85 with the stock injectors, they just go static before you can really get the pedal to the metal.

I'm nowhere near static with the 42#s, running E85 and an upgraded turbo... but I'm hitting valve float. Until we get new valves, or at least valve springs, there's no need for anything larger on the Sonic.

I think you may be mislead on what to expect from bigger injectors. They don't make more power unless your stock injectors are holding you back. Unless you have every bolt-on available installed, it's unlikely your stock 28lbs injectors are holding you back.

Trifecta will tune for non-e85 42lb injectors? Im not really in the market. I have a lot more upgradeing to do before Im ready for injectors

FWIW, on a local cobalt with a turbo kit added we are using ID1000's, E85, a return line setup and a walbro pump, car is making right near 500whp at 27psi and has fuel left. Injectors that big are just absurd on this tiny engine, and we don't turn anywhere near the RPMs as the cobalt does, high-rpms cut down the injection window and drive up IDC more than any one other factor at that point.

Agreed with all the above, the factory 42lb injectors are great and I used them to get a ton of power out of my supercharged cobalt way back when. Plenty more than 99.99% of sonics will ever reach. On pump gas though, if you are using E85 you are diminishing capacity by nearly 30% so you get there quicker.

Adding a return seems like a great advantage for high rpm and/or high boost, because you can ramp up the pressure and not have to mess with the variable pump crap.

I noticed obvious gains with e85. But nothing noticeable on pump gas as a result of bigger injectors.

Yeah, returnless and set at 58psi. We now have a boost-referenced FPR and base set around 45 to get the injectors to work good at idle. We could squeeze more pressure if needed but he's going to have me do cams and some other tricks and see where it ends up first.
