So the new "Sonic Premier" that replaces the RS only comes in automatic transmission...kind of disappointing isn't it? The LTZ trim is also gone...if you want manual trans you have to go with the cheapest base model. :mad:

If I wasnt really happy with my 2015 manual LS, I'd be tempted by the 20% cash back...

This weekend, I attended the local Quad Cities Regional Auto Show in Davenport Ia. While viewing the offerings from Chevrolet, I looked at a fully optioned, red 2017 Sonic Premier, 1.4, auto RS hatch. I'm OK with the recent changes to lights, facias, instruments, the available manual trans, and other options and features; and would probably buy a Sonic again. What I would really like to see is a bump in horsepower/torque, and the ability to call the Sonic a true "hot hatch"; at least start with the Cruzes' 1.4 horsepower upgrade for the Sonic too. Apparently Chevrolet isn't that interested in this niche market yet.

At this point in time, I also still appreciate and enjoy owning and driving my Inferno Orange, 2012 1.4, manual, LTZ hatch.

All you need to do is find a 2010-2017 Buick Regal GS that has been totaled, but the internals are mostly intact.

At the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, GM showed a concept GS version of the Regal based on the Opel Insignia OPC and Vauxhall Insignia VXR. The concept featured a 2.0L, 270 hp (200 kW), 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) high-output DOHC I4 turbocharged Ecotec engine, a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive.

The production GS leaves most of the concept specifications intact, but is front-wheel drive. The GS features Buick's Interactive Drive Control System with GS mode, a choice of an FGP Germany F40-6 six-speed manual or Aisin AF-40 (G2) six-speed automatic transmission, high performance brakes with Brembo front calipers and high performance strut (HiPerStrut) front suspension. ... The GS is expected to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in under seven seconds. The production version is equipped with GS-only high-output version of the Ecotec 2.0L turbo engine with 270 hp (201 kW) and 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) of torque. The GM LHU engine used in the GS trim makes 135 hp per liter - Buick’s highest specific output ever. The GS went on sale in fall 2011 as a 2012 model.

Sounds like a perfectly doable swap. :p
If a fat Buick can achieve a 7 second 0 to 60 time, just imagine what a lightweight Sonic could do with the same drivetrain...

A search found 17 LTs in my area, all with the 20% deal, 4 of which were 1.4Ts...but all automatics. If I was serious, I'd keep looking to find a 1.4T with manual tranny somewhere...

You'd probably have to go on a cross country drive :b. They're very rare which is annoying because they're so cool, and it's a good deal.

Thought that was supercharged one in the Cobalt SS, but hope they will continue the hackbacks - I dislike the sedan look.... Wish for a two door model. A 2.0 turbo would be very nice with upgraded transmission and suspension. I would consider upgrading in a few years, when I get my LT paid off and save some money.
