35k cracked block

Hi all.... new to this forum but not to other forums.

1st week - I took my 1.8 Sonic LT in for a misfire about three weeks ago. Water in spark plug entrance. Dealer replaced all coil packs.

2nd week - Took it in for no heat. They said the coolant system needed burped or there was an air bubble in the system.

This week - Took it back for no heat.. long story short. Cracked block- they ordered a new engine for me. short block.

I'm glad this all happened while it was under 36k. Dealer is treating me excellent thus far. Car should be ready next week .

This info is FYI in case it happens to anyone else. They did not tell me why this happened. The car never threw a code or a warning light.

Are they sure it is a cracked block and not a headgasket or cracked head? Very rare to see an Iron block crack.

Also, the engine is covered for 100K.

IMO they won't be and can't be sure of anything until they pull the entire thing apart unless they already have.

I am assuming they pulled it apart. I just have a hard time believing a cracked iron block. I do find it easy to believe that the head cracked or headgasket failed. Not saying that it cant happen, just a rare thing to happen.

Having worked in dealers I know how technicians sometimes lie to customers to make a small issue sound bigger.

Iron blocks do crack as do iron heads just not near as often as aluminum parts.

They got the new short block today.
