Anyone know how to get a ticket cheaper?

So today I went out driving with some friends and there sonics here in Alaska. And well needless to say I was stupid and we all 3 got a ticket for racing on the streets and the fine is $310 due in 30 days. I'm curious if anyone knows how I should go about this to lower the price or am I SOL. I'm gonna be driving like a granny from now.

Does your state have some sort of a deferral program where you pay a fee, sign up, and get put on probation for a period of time and if you make it, the ticket gets dropped? If it does, and the fee is less than the ticket I'd do it, because the points from the ticket also don't hit your record. Other than that, you're screwed. A lawyer would be more than $310, unless you are friends with one. When you go to court, ask for the maximum amount of time possible to pay it off, that way you don't have to fork it all over at once.

Go to court and ask for a reduction. Depending on how much you get paid, this may end up costing you more. There is no guarantee they will lower your fine at the courthouse. I've gotten plenty of tickets and this is the only possible way to get a reduction in fine. There are so many people where I live that it's cheaper for the prosecutor to make deals than to fight in front of the judge. It's all about making deals.

Racing is bad though. Chances are that you are going to get your license suspended. Sorry to have to say that.

I've been charged with racing before. I told the cop that I was just trying to get a better look at the other car. He wrote that in his report and when the prosecutor read it they had a good laugh and just reduced my charge because they felt bad for me. . One never knows...:0)

If you got a ticket for street racing chances are you are not getting out of it and you will not get it reduced, but I am not familiar with Alaskan law. I do know that if that happened to you in FL they would arrest you impound the car(or immobilize) and it would be much MUCH more than a $310 fine not including tow and impound fees plus loss of license for a year.

I would just take what they give you because fighting it may get you a harsher fine or punishment. Sucks it happened but take your lumps and just pay the fine I say......

Can they give a stiffer fine? I've never heard of that happening. Find out what your laws are. Talk to a lawyer bc racing is serious. It could be that if found guilty your license will be suspended. In that case it would be best for you to fight it. Speak to a lawyer and learn your rights.

Here they have minimums and maximums they can charge you with so if the $310 is on the low end and he goes to court and the judge doesn't like him or the fact that he is fighting it he can raise the fine and be responsible for court costs and still have his license taken.

I just looked into the Alaskan laws and street racing is 10 points on your license :(

Likes loud exhaust because it pisses his neighbors off, gets a ticket for racing on the street.

Something tells me you were born after 1994.................. :rolleyes:

No no before aha and exhaust already went back to stock before this. And this is my first ticket. The wife told me to stay home and eat dinner I just didn't listen

One thing that may help is if they will let you make a "charitable donation" instead. Still have to pay the ticket price, but it does not count on your driving record (no points on licence and not reported to insurance).

Where in the world does this happen? Here in CA at least you have 90 + days before your court appearance... Or you can pay online and sign up for traffic school to avoid the points.

It also helps to have boobs... Just sayin'

In that case I'm going to get plastic surgery and get boobs before I move there lol.

For Every speeding ticket I have received, I went to court, pled guilty, and they cut the fine and points in half if the officer didn't already give you a reduction.

I would thank the cop for the ticket. Street racing in Fl gets you instantly in handcuffs and your car impounded. As well as your license suspended.

I do know if you go to court and plead your case, the judge could lessen the penalty. But most are not so forgiving especially if its proven you were racing.

It depends on what county you live in here in NY. In Suffolk county (where I live) any moving violations that you plead not guilty to and are found guilty, its the maximum fine. That just happens to be the same fine you will pay if you plead guilty. In Nassau county (the one next to me), if you plead not guilty, you meet with an ADA and they will let you plead down to a lesser charge, assuming your not a repeat offender.

That's kind of like experience. You always get it right after you needed it the most.
