Battery Issues?

Here recently, my 2014 has been randomly dying. I normally drive it every single day, but these past few weeks, it hasn't been driven like that. It sat for 4 days a week ago, dead battery. I didn't think anything of it - I figured my Amp may have caused it. But just a few minutes ago I went to start it, but it wouldn't even unlock. No lights would flash. Not even a buzz from the engine bay when I tried to start it. It has sat for approx. 9 hours without being ran. It's been sitting, so last night I used my remote start to let it run because I knew I would need it today and didn't want it to be dead again. I'm not 100% it's the battery. I'm going to Advance when I get it going again to have the voltage checked.

It sounds like the battery is done. Having it load-checked is the best way to know for sure though. You can always pull the fuse on the amp and see if the problem persists.

You may have a draw issue that then killed the battery

If it's a no service battery you're screwed
But if it's one you have to service check to make sure it's filled

Batteries may look good under no load
You do need a load tester to make sure

Went and got it tested and it was, indeed, toast. Luckily Advance had coupons so I only had to pay $140. Thanks guys?

Mine is swollen, not sure why. The battery the car had when I bought it was swollen and the one that the dealer replaced it with got swollen within a month, haven't bothered replacing it.

What? They made of gold? Plus that's stealership price

I wouldn't expect a led acid battery to be over 80 glass pack maybe 140-120

Idk just doesn't seem correct to me

Most batteries for cars are expensive, at least to my knowledge. When I had my Tahoe, that battery ran me $200.

Truck batteries are more expensive but seriously they really don't need to be that expensive if you know what you need for your car

Even when I had my truck a battery was only 120 and those things were huge

Yeah, I've never seen a 'cheap' car battery. Even the ones at Walmart are $100+. I don't mind paying more for a better battery. For a car, it isn't an option, so I have to pay what I have to pay. I still think I got a decent deal. Anything less than sticker price is a deal to me.

Where do you live?

I know what the Chevy dealer pays for their ACDelco batteries because I sell them to them. If your dealer is asking $380.00 for a battery, they should be reported to the police, because that is highway robbery.

The $140.00 Advance battery is way overpriced too.

And if Advance is where you had the battery tested, I wouldn't trust them that your battery was toast either. They are in the business to sell batteries.

Knowing what I know, Advance didn't pay more than $70.00 for the battery they sold you.

Also as a side note, many don't think to look at Batteries Plus (at least I hadn't) for auto batteries. I just thought they sold "normal" batteries and things for cell phones, power tools etc. I was able to purchase a hard to find size for my Evora that none of the common auto stores carried for a reasonable price.

I live in Virginia. I knew the battery was messed up. It died when I got there. My windows are working like normal now, too. The battery was old and wore out. Lol. I'm not stressing over the price. I had to have and I wasn't gonna try to Jew Advance down. Lol. I'm sure they didn't even pay $70 for it, but everybody marks up for profits so again, I'm not stressing. My problem is solved. My car works now Lol. That's all I was worried about. Even though it's a cheap car, I refuse to put cheap **** parts in it.

Lol christ everyone always has to one up each other. Who cares what he paid. It was an average price. Was it a deal? No. Was it on the high end? No. It was average. Advance lists the batteries for our cars at $177. $182 for AGM. If you can get a better deal then great.

He's happy. His car is working again. Leave it at that.

Oh BTW my friends neighbours brothers cousins barber could have got that battery for $10 bucks. :rolleyes:

$177.00 list for a 47 Series battery with only a 36 month free replacement warranty is a total rip off. It's not "average" - it's extremely high for a cheap aftermarket battery from an auto parts box store.

The imaginary "list" price for an ACDelco 47PG (top of the line battery for the Sonic) is only $138.99 - and we never sell them for that - as I sell batteries to new car dealers, used car dealers, independent repair shops and fleets.

I won't divulge the exact wholesale price that my customers pay, but it is under $100.00.

Typically my GM dealers don't even charge full "list" price - that's why I made the comment about the OP's reference to his dealer wanting $380.00 for a battery.
