Black GM Wheels .. Paint chipping?

I just bought my 2012 Sonic Hatch and absolutely love it! However I have an issue... The 15" GM Wheels in black are chipping. BAD. To the point where I could get a fingernail under them and keep peeling. I bought the car two weeks ago and didn't notice it. After I washed it this weekend it was really noticeable on one wheel and when I inspected, I can see it happening on all four of them.

A friend of mine who knows cars, especially GM said that this happened to him with a car he had and that it is an "adhesion problem". Car was under warranty and they replaced them no questions. I haven't called the Chevy dealer yet about the issue, but will this week.

My question is has anyone else had issues with the black wheels for their sonic? If the dealer gives me a hard time I want to tell them I know for a fact this is something they gotta take care of.

in doing a little research, i am having a hard time to locate these wheels online. Please at least tell me someone else has black 15" rims from Chevrolet on their sonic!

that's one helluva drive from Keuka to Verona...
I actually go to school through Keuka College, I'm in their ASAP program and take classes in Syracuse.
Tell you what, I'm ready for spring this year.

my plasti dipped 16s start chippin off bc of the road salt goin to work even its only from Wtown to Ft. Drum.. but yeah found out if your dealer can solve that issue..

The finish deterioration on those wheels is awful. I also agree that they don't look like they were ever gloss black. They look as if they have been in service for many years, and not a few months. We have road salt here in winter too; but I have yet to see anything that deteriorated within that short of time.

I tend to agree with this theory. Also,the brake drums are painted; That is another clue that they aren't painted by the factory; possibly a previous owner?

Those look stock to me but the stock wheels are silver not black. I seen to agree with the dealer painting them theory is very possible.

The dealer may have painted them the same thing happened to my neighbor but they have a jeep patriot but the chrysler dealer here is notorious for painting stock rims to charge extra, if they did they should warrant it for you

Then looks like someone who owned it before did not do a good job painting them or just did not take care of them. Looks like the silver is still under the black. Factory finish is gloss black from one I have seen at my dealer and that is mat black I see on your wheels. Would still get it looked at just as a precation. I would strip them and repaint them the right way.
