Cx racing intercooler kit!!!!

In all the madness happening at DDMW, Dave has finished R&D for an intercooler kit. I can't reveal too much other than it will be an extruded core IC made in the USA.

For those that have been checking the pulse on an intercooler upgrade, you might want to have some money ready soon. It won't be long..... It really is coming. And it'll realistically add some peak hp, but more importantly it will beef up the rest of the power curve...... a lot!!

Also, is it compatible with the already available diverter?

And, aside from the bypass valve, what other upgradables sit in that same hard to reach spot in the car.

When I get around to this, it seems natural to grab as much in that area as possible, since removing late pieces of fascia is a p.i.t.a.

Pricing usually is revealed closer to the point of availability. It will be compatible with all the stock components, but it would be a great time to upgrade the charge piping while doing the swap. And the bypass valve is accessed from inside the engine bay.

I had a question, I just revived my full kit, on the charge pipe there is some form of connection to be made, is that for the bpv or do I have to switch to bov?

It seems to me that we would need to have our tune adjusted to benefit from an aftermarket intercooler, no? Unless I'm mistaken, our tune makes a "set" amount of targeted power regardless of conditions. This is why my peak boost is much lower in 20 degree temps versus 60 degree temps. The tune turns down the boost because more boost is not needed for the target power. Won't the same principle apply for the intercooler? Even if we obtain better flow, it won't matter, because our tune will continue to make the targeted amount of power. Am I wrong?

True to an extent. If the torque request hasn't been met then more power can be achieved with more flow and particulary cooler, denser intake air that lowers the knock threshold.

On a stock tune it's completely worthless. Already tuned it would be wise to datalog to get the tuned maxed out for the new flow and lower charge temps.

I got the cxracing front mount on finally it was definitely worth the money. Its a different feeling ill tell you that it spoils a lot faster and sounds great. easy install ran into a few hiccups but managed. I can definitely feel a power difference, the boost feels healthier if that makes any sense and it looks fantastic.

And I'm glad to hear that an intercooler upgrade makes such a difference. I was just thinking about it today. It makes a lot of sense that it would. The stock one ain't horrible. But it was not really designed or intended for higher performance pressures/flow.

I did the whole kit... Not really built for the RS model as I had to cut my fog lights down to accommodate the pipes. Ltz fogs sit high and out of the way. Took about 6 hours on jack stands, also did my BNR dp at the same time. A word to the wise on any of these kits, think about an oil filter relocate or turn your t bolt to easily remove your upper charge pipe. Power numbers coming tomorrow! Being dyno tuned with HP tuners. Currently at 18lbs at 159whp/210wtqu

Hey preloader,

I would highly recommend the mpfab intercooler kit, I have zero numbers to back it up but the quality is second to none. I had some fit issues because the kit was designed for a manual transmission ( so you would be fine ). The kit is designed to be as short as possible, and I have noticed zero increase in turbo lag. I would recommend porting the throttle body if you haven't already, it will go nicely with the increase in flow.

The intercooler is a Garrett, and the cold side charge tubes are 2.25" tubing (hot side is 2") which flow much better compared to the 1.5" id of the iat2 tube.

No proof of power gain here, but I can do some nice sonic style burnouts now

Trust me, I would love to..... But I'm tied up with DDMW on the intercooler. He is dyno testing a custom USA made intercooler. He tried a couple already but saw performance drops. If he doesn't see the gains we want with the one he's working on, maybe I'll run the MPFab IC idea by him. Dave's cool like that. He isn't anti-other vendors. So I could purchase MPFab's iC and have it shipped to Dave so he can do the piping fitment to the new turbo.

I've been meaning to check in with him soon, so I'll run the idea by him.

So for anyone ordering this kit for the sonic, order the sonic pipes with the cruze intercooler... They sent garbage out for the sonic, and a nice bar type for the cruze.

It is sitting on a dyno being tuned right now with the cruze cx intercooler instead of the sonic one...also found out, if you use the cruze one, no crash bar modification has to be done. I will post numbers tomorrow with a dyno sheet, and for comparison, I have a cruze zzp intake, cruze intercooler from cx and the full cx hard pipes, bnr catless downpipe, and 2.25" straight pipes. Also have the bypass mod and I'm at 4200ft elevation.
