DDMworks 1.4L intake Testing

It's been over a month since Dave's last post, they must be busy or ran into an issue with it. I know it was said they had an event last weekend in my DDMWorks Sedan exhaust thread.

Bogus, all the exhaust system that fit a 1.4T HB will fit a 1.8, all the suspension parts fit all of the cars and Injen has an intake and Trifecta has tuning. Just about all that the 1.4T has over the 1.8 is brand selection.

Yea right.
The 1.8 responds nowhere near as well as the 1.4T, it's systemic in the prospect of turbos, period.
Don't forget the 1.4T has MPG as well. ;-)

CoHPhasor, clearly you didn't understand the post I was responding to. Bogus stated that there is more love for the 1.4T than the 1.8 and I cleary pointed out that there are plenty of available parts for it since most of the 1.4T and 1.8 parts are interchangeable and that the only thing the 1.4 has is more manufactures of the same parts. Clearly a Forced Induction car is going to be more powerful and respond better to anything added to it, but that was not what was being discussed.

Yeah it's been a while, I'm not even getting replies from them on email anymore. Submitted a question about the progress on their Sedan exhaust and Liz emailed me back saying she will have Dave contact me and it has been weeks. I understood at the time as I think Laborsmith said they had a show one weekend but it's been two weeks since then. Hopefully ZZP can get some competition (other than Injen) soon.

what about the problem with some of the other intakes......something about your cars computer after the first 2 weeks or so senses the power change and brings it back down, so the gain is temporary... forgot what it was called

The only way to get around the PCM reducing power after it learns the now intake is to get tuning. It will happen to any intake on the Sonic. The big thing is throwing a code and that is why ZZP redesigned their intake for the Sonic and possibly something that DDM is working though right now and once again, tuning can solve that problem as well.

Just disconnect the battery once a week. It will eventually down learn, but I haven't disconnected in a month and still no down learn. I am not tuned....yet.

Disconnecting the battery is definitely an option. I would love to see a dyno run with your car the way it sets and then after a battery disconnect though.
