Dave, which one is which? I'm guessing Green is the DDM, Dark Blue is Injen and Light Blue is stock. Is the engine tuned for each set up prior to running them?
For the testing we did not tune for any intake, this is the standard trifecta tune that is sent out nothing special.
The testing procedure went like this:
1. Install 1 of the 3 intakes we were testing randomly
2. Make the first run
3. Wait 1 minute
4. Make the second run
5. Wait 1 minute
6. Make a third run
7. Turn off car
8. Swap intakes (usually had this done within 1 minute with all of the tools 9. sitting there to do it.)
9. Start car
10. Let car idle for 1 minute
11. Make 1st run with 2nd intake
12. Wait 1 minute
13. Make the second run
14. Wait 1 minute
15. Make a third run
16. Turn off car
17. Swap intakes
18. Start car
19. Let car idle for 1 minute
20. Make 1st run with 2nd intake
21. Wait 1 minute
22. Make the second run
23. Wait 1 minute
24. Make a third run
25. Turn off car
We did it this way to be as fair as possible to the intakes installed. We then repeated the same test above with a different intake first, second and third and finally did the testing again with another intake tested first to make sure there was no advantage to going first, second or third in the testing order. The results for the testing were very consistent throughout the day of running the car on the dyno.
Couple other observations we saw testing the car on the dyno. The ambient temp in the shop that day was 95-96 degrees. While running the intakes on the dyno we were monitoring intake air temperature (temperature measured at the air flow meter), here is what we found -
Stock intake -run start average 98 / run end average 99
DDMWorks intake - run start average 103 / run end average 105
Injen intake - run start average 116 / run end average 123
More information on this in a little bit.
