Did you guys at least get a check from your union for vacation/sick pay? We get a check 3 times a year for vacation/sick pay. It's up to us to use it however we want, just can't bitch about not getting paid if you get the sniffles. Depending on the contract you work under and the amount of OT, all 3 checks add up to between 1-5 weeks pay.

No,

At the time they had what was called a "vacation fund" and you paid X amount into it per check and could pull it out when you wanted to take a vacation, but it was your money.

I think I heard they recently did away with it but I could be wrong.

For normal sick time you just didn't get paid, and typically got laid off.

We have a "vacation fund" if we choose to pay into it. The fund is paid out twice a year. I opted out a couple years ago. If I am not at work I dont get paid. If I miss enough time I will end up with a long "vacation". Unless you play the book right or get lucky I think it is about a 1-1.5 year vacation right now in my local.

We get paid well, but a lot is expected in return. I love my job most of the time, and I have worked with some great wiremen. Some very smart old timers that have a lot of knowledge to pass down. Saddly I think I have been selected to be groomed as one of the next fire alarm guys for this shop. Its good and bad at the same time. Oh well, maybe it will keep me employed for many years to come. I like working for this shop and someone likes me being here. 4 years at one shop for someone in my position is almost unheard of. I have been informed that I have some people high up watching out for me at this shop.

Paid time off is nice to have. It's too bad that I still have my work iphone on and I'm still reading emails, responding and making sure my team is doing what it's supposed to be doing. Basically, I'm still half-working on those days.

That's why I'm no longer in the carpenters union.
I couldn't keep up with others due to my arthritis so I just gave up on it after trying for 1.5 yrs. What's the point in trying to do something when you know you can't.

I work with some people that have no clue. They stand there bashing union construction workers while having one hand in their pocket and the other hand holding a cup of tea doing nothing while getting paid for it.

Well I ended up with an involuntary holiday off thanks to a nasty case of strep! However a painful shot in the butt cheek and a little prednisone later, I'm feeling pretty good!

Since I'm supposed to be at work right now, I can't express my happiness anywhere else.. So here you guys go:

Words cannot express the happiness and pride a girl feels on her own in her driveway, wrenching on one of her cars, making her way through everything, taking it apart piece by piece so the engine can be removed, while she's got XM Octane blasting from the open windows of her other modified car.

Pretty sure this is what heaven is like.

Painful shot in the buttcheak?

Last painful shot I had was the last time I took Humira. Every friggin time that burned so much it was unreal for 3-4 seconds. It was short, but it was insanely painful especially if it was a little cold.

Well I been trying to get my sonic in a dealer for the past week and no luck. Took it into Campbell Chevrolet thursday after I scheduled and a appointment for the transmission shifting hard and a few bumper to bumper things after sitting down for 30 minutes the service manager comes up to me and tells me that they don't have time to look at my transmission that I need to take it to the dealer where I bought it from. So I left and called Serra Chevrolet and they won't take my car in because they already have 7 transmission jobs. Then I called Payne Chevrolet and didint mention the transmission and just scheduled a day to come in.. If they don't look at my car I'm going to flip

Having so much fun with this!! I was the happiest girl when I took off the valve cover and turned the crank and watched.. And then after I took off the head and pulled on the timing belt and watched the pistons.. Lol. Why I didn't push for this before is beyond me.

Here's a fine thing no wonder compression was down in this cylinder!
