In theory - yes. I really like the V-stom 650, and I've seen 3 year old models with about 10k miles go for a good deal.

Now, this may get completely thrown out the window once I get to sit and test ride different models. Being so tall, fit is going to be crucial and I can't judge that based on spec sheets and pictures.

So, final decision will come with test rides.

That's a good way to go about it, it would suck to take a bike home and not be comfortable on it a week later.

Which is also why I'm most likely going to go used. If bought smart, a used bike won't lose much of its value, and if I either find that a) it's not what I wanted b)not comfortable or c) I'm ready to move on in 8 months, then I can resell it without losing my ass on depreciation of a new bike.

Of course you do have the same problem if not more so as buying a used car.
You have no idea how it was broken in (still important with bikes) and how it was maintained, run low on oil etc.

Probably just like any other oil, Dexos or not... It's the warranty that is not going to like it if it comes down to an engine failure.

I remember hiking with a friend last year. We were out for maybe an hour and a half or two, but the Texas sun is quite potent. I had to remove my shirt so he could use it as a bandana, because he forgot his cap. I noticed his head was getting read already.

He still ended up with severely burned forearms. Haha.

Well, maybe not.

I bought a 95 Lumina off of a friend that was having problems with it. My wife had just moved here and needed a car so it was perfect. The car had run Mobile 1 it's entire life with 3K mile changes. I bought the car and continued to use M1.

The intake gasket failed at around 130K and it ended up with either a headgasket failure or cracked head soon after. Before I bought it my friend thought he may have overheated it, but he pulled over as soon as he noticed a problem. It had no other issues other than constant slow coolant loss.

The car was junked at around 135-140K miles.

It had a 3.1 V6. I didn't have money or time to find out if it was only a headgasket or not.

Point being, all of that expensive oil and the car was still junked at a fairly low mileage. Though, inside the valve cover looked like brand new.

We all know you're gonna do what you want, and maybe it makes you feel better but I doubt your car cares.

Me, I run M1 extended performance and change it every 10K or so, usually going by when the OLM hits 10%

Not sure if it was funny, but it is a valid point.


Drove to work this morning and thought the engine was running smoother, also noticed peak engine temp a couple degrees lower then normal. Not sure if it's me wanting to see a difference or not.

Just left the dealer after sitting there from 7:30 to 1:09pm had them look at the loose thread in my back seat.. The water pump and the hatch door is chipping paint. They are ordering a new seat they said for the back seat.. The back hatch door is to GMs specs and standerds so I'm left with it chipping my paint away and my water pump seems to be working fine even tho i have to fill the coolant every other day and it's making a loud squeal. I asked what's the reason for the squeal and me having to add coolant and he said the car u will have to add coolant from time to time and then he said that they never heard a squeal even tho I got him to listen to it when I first pulled up and he said he heard it and they will look into it. I guess he thought it was something simple like a squeaky belt but turns out it's the water pump lol.

Maybe find a different dealer. Adding coolant every other day, like you say, would mean there's a significant leak. The two times that mine leaked, the leaks weren't that large, either.

I have to add to mine maybe every 15,000-20,000 miles and to me that means something is seeping slowly. Actually I'd almost swear mine stopped.

Adding all of the time, is an obvious leak.

That's the 2nd dealer I been to. The first in my city told me to take my car to the dealer where I purchased my car after waiting an hour in the waiting room then went all the way to Nashville over an hour away just to not have it fixed

I noticed something about the band "Rush".

People either hate it love it - very polarizing. It seems that most people that ever get brought into the subject will say either "I don't really like them." or "I'm a huge Rush fan." There seems to be few people in between.

Me, I don't like Rush. Never liked their sound.
