I have been to courtesy Chevrolet and Humberview chevy and the techs at both of them could not find an issue. I also went to those dealerships for other minor stuff but that is for an other thread.
Disappearing Coolant, Dealer Is Stumped

I have the same issue. Coolant smell comes in through my vents inside the car and goes away. Only happens every now and again. But my car also feels like it doesnt have the same power anymore. I feel like im revving it higher to get the same performance. It jerked real hard a few times like the whole engine was stuttering at takeoff and around 3000 rpms while accelerating. Only done that once. It is also alot harder to take off in without revving it up higher. my ultra guage shows my temp it is almost never the same it fluctuates quite a bit. Im at 49k miles and only used about half a gallon though. Its almost to the bottom of the resevoir now when it gets lower im thinking about taking it in this time. Anyone else have any of my other sysmptoms.

since a hard to find warranty claim can be time consuming. do your oil analysis now so if it comes back positive for antifreeze you can start the fight... good luck. The antifreeze has to be going somewhere, if its the water pump its still gonna come out the bottom of the engine somehow due to gravity. have them put the dye for leak check in your water system. run for awhile then have them use the ultraviolet light under the car and check the engine area for the dye that escaped out of the water pump, freeze plugs, etc etc.... If not, I would suspect a very small leak at the cylinder head into the engine cylinder and you are burning it thru the engine and out the tailpipe at suck a small rate that it is not effecting the running condition of the engine. sparkplugs may tell a story if you pull them and inspect them. coolant doesn't just disappear.

Does as soon as it hits something hot and evaporates.
Being I know I've smelled coolant near the front of my car many times I'm pretty certain it's not burning it and if it was leaking into the oil, especially at the rate a few members are losing it I'd think you'd know.
But overall I agree.
This is what I'm experiencing. You open the hood after the car has been running and it just reeks of hot coolant. I actually opened the hood and made the service writer smell it this time.
I'm still waiting to take it back to the dealer to have them look at it with the dyed coolant. Waiting on a part to come in for the hatch, then I'm headed back. I managed to break off one of the posts that the cargo cover hinges on.

2013 sonic RS I noticed some antifreeze on my garage floor. .wipe it up.. check again a few days later. . Same thing. . More antifreeze. . Get to searching and find a leak on pulley end of engine. Suspect the water pump. . It's going to the dealer on Tuesday if I can get an appt.. Wish me luck. . Will follow up with the dealer assessment of my issue. .

Add to it and get it to be around 1/4" above the seam in the tank.
No need to assume there is a leak yet, could just be an air pocket worked its way out being its still new.
I had the same problem, no heat sometimes and had to add over 2 gallons of coolant with my sonic having only 11k miles. Took it to the dealer twice second time they replaced the water pump saying the seal was leaking, there was never any pools of coolant anywhere so I always assumed heater core or intake leak. Car warms up much faster now. The dealer kept my car for 2 nights and 3 days and would not give me a courtesy car and told me they would not reimburse a rental... Because of this I will most likely cancel my major guard because they pretty much told me its worthless, and they sold it to me....

okay, my waterpump is bad. dealer stated at the beginning they did not know of any issues. LOL ya right. after the repair they said there is an ongoing issue with the waterpumps. to my way of thinking this is a known issue and if you are out of warranty it may still be covered. GM is going to have an updated pump and gasket within the next year. They also told me they could not guarantee I would not be back for another waterpump again. But I bought my car at the dealer and it has a lifetime warranty on the drivetrain and the waterpump is included in the engine part. so I have no issues unless it blows on me while driving. those of you without warranties and bad waterpumps may want to work with a dealer or the manufacturer to have them fixed at no cost.
those of you with a leak and cant find it, take a flashlight, look down at the belly pan that guards the engine from the top. just below the front of the engine ( passenger side of engine ) and on top of this guard you may see some coolant. that's where and how I found mine. the pan holds the coolant before it runs onto the ground. If your only leaking a little bit it may be blowing off while driving. check it in the morning after your car has sat for awhile.
