ECO button?

hey guys just bought the 2013 Sonic RS 6 speed. I see in the dash that there is an "ECO" light up area and was wondering if there is a button to press to turn on eco mode or what gets it to light up????? i cant figure it out help lol
I have the i.8 lt and i saw that also... Still haven't figured out how to get it on

One of the very first Sonic mysteries. Still unsolved if memory serves. One guess: the Sonic is an international vehicle and that light might be there for that reason and another speculated there may be future plans for an ECO Sonic.

What does an Eco Cruze have, 1.8 or 1.4T? 1.6T?
I can see an Eco Sonic having a 1.2T or 1.4T and I'll take either. Even a 1.0T might be interesting but I don't think 1.0 or 1.2s come with a turbo anywhere?
1.6 and 1.8 are from Family 1 and I have no interest in them currently, sorry.
A mean 1.0T, now that is what should be in a Spark.

I vote for ECO Sonic to be propane powered.
Of course there is a chance I am misinterpreting the intended meaning of ECO.

I posted because KIA is introducing propane power in Europe as a $1400 upgrade.

This will expose my ignorance but I have long though LPG, CNG and propane were all "white gas," therefore one and the same. Liquified Petroleum Gas and Compressed Natural Gas if I remember correctly.

There is an Eco Sonic, er AVEO, which is available in the UK. 1.3L diesel engine designed by Fiat and GM.
They have an 'Eco' button on the console where our stability control switch resides. This toggles an engine start/stop feature that shuts off the engine once stopped. However in this configuration they still do not make use of that Eco indicator in the cluster.

Would not want another manual diesel.
Diesels and autos go together very well.
In fact if you look at the diesel power challenges( diesel power had a article about this ) a manual trans diesel has never won. Always a auto.
With the auto the turbo never drops out unlike the manual.
In fact we traded our first cummins in for another one with a auto. You would have it screaming at red line pulling a hill (fully loaded with a trailer mind you) and the moment you touched the clutch the turbo unspooled and it was a sob to get spooled again and 9 times out of 10 you down shifted again

Either way,
But anything turbo I will almost always pick a automatic

I suppose it comes down to knowing how to operate the vehicle. Anyone who understands how a turbo works should have no problem driving a 1.4 T 6M Sonic.
I'll admit, it took me a while to adjust. If I was cruising up a fairly steep hill in 6th taching at around 1800rpm and barely loosing speed, my immediate reaction was to just drop into 5th. This would've worked on a N/A engine fine.
I learned this was a big mistake. Barely maintaining speed, step on clutch, drop boost, go into 5th, loose speed more, WTF??
Now I know under those conditions to just drop it into 4th, accelerate and upshift into 5th. Just like before I get to such a hill, open throttle more before I hit the hill and then just cruise effortlessly up it.
It takes time to get used to it, but once I did, I love it.

I noticed that ECO in my tach too.
An "ECO" mode is for people who can't drive economically on their own. Among other things, they desensitize throttle input, alter shift points and other tricks that can improve MPG. You can simply do things on your own by easing up on the gas, not working the gas pedal like your trying to keep time with the beat of your favorite song, shifting sooner for those with a stick, etc.

Perhaps I'll reword. It is nonsensical not to OFFER a drivetrain that can fully maximize mpg on a small fuel effecient vehicle. Some individuals would willingly sacrifice 1 second of rebuilding boost at WOT for better gas mileage.
My gripe is that it is not offered in a manual trans which could be made to work in perfect symphony with its high mpg purpose.
