Thanks everyone for the tips and the dropbox link for the fuse location: https://www.dropbox.com/s/alaqr98i5ne9470/Chevy Sonic Fog Light Install 2012.pdf
Just got mine in - Monday I'll head to the dealership for a reflash.
I found that in teh cold (its just above freezing here) the plastic was brittle and some of the fascia wanted to tear. Go lightly guys.
SO Angry I could spit nails.
I finally got around to taking the car to the stealership for the BCM reflash to activate my OEM (GM) fog lights sourced through a local wrecker, installed with a wiring loom and switch sourced through the local dealership.
They cannot activate the lights, regardless of a reflash. Apparently you need to buy the lights from GM, and not a wreckers or the tech can't activate the lights. There is an activation code that only available with a new kit purchased from the dealer.
I guess GM would rather see lights from wrecked cars go to the dump than allow them to be recycled - maybe they are just a bunck of money grubbing eggheads who hate DIY's. Either way this is a big NO vote for me. Eff the reflash. I can buy a $2 switch and skip the whole process.
That's actually a bunch of bull****. I had the accessory kit flashed with no proof I bought them from GM. Try a different dealer.
Tapatalking on my iPhone 6.
They tell me there is a code that comes with th ekit - without that code there's nothing they can do. You recall anything like this with yours?
What pisses me off is this is the SAME DEALER I bought the switch and harness from, and I specifically told them I didn't need the kit because I was gettin gwrecker parts for the lights. THat might have been a good time to mention this code, but instead they take my money for the parts, then try to charge me for a reflash, then tell me it can't be done.
Thank god I didn't pre-pay the reflash and have to fight for that back.
I'll try the Buick dealership down the road and see if they can do anything, otherwise I have to head to the next town over. Really though a pushbutton from autozone is sounding a lot easier. And cheaper.
No code. All they have to do is call the TIS Helpdesk and request a VCI with VCAP file for your VIN with fog lamps enabled.
Push button worms really wellThey tell me there is a code that comes with th ekit - without that code there's nothing they can do. You recall anything like this with yours?

Mines lights up green
And the plus the fog lights stay on when the high beams are on
Lights will go off,, when you turn off the car lol.Yeah - I was trying to avoid that - with my luck I'd forget they were on and kill the battery all the time. If this attempt fails, I'll be going that route though.
In the spirit of eff-you-very-much, Chevy just replied to me on FB...

Chevrolet Love my Sonic, but why are you kneecapping customers with customization - I just went through the effort to put in used (wreckers) fog lights and buy new dealer parts for wiring and switch, only to find out the BCM reflash can't recognize used parts. You guys need to seriously rethink your approach to the youth market if you kill even OEM upgrades for the DIY crowd. I'm spitting nails when the dealer service desk is telling me I need to go in and buy a complete foglight kit just for a code.

Thanks for the reply Jean - you have pinned the problem down precisely. This is all GM parts from GM with GM part numbers and GM logos and GM packaging - I mean the GM fog lights from GM were 'packaged' with a GM automobile that was in a wrecking yard. Why won't GM show their GM customers any love when it comes to turning on the GM parts on a GM vehicle?
