AndrewGS, I have been looking at this XDs and a G36. I am just a little apprehensive about the Springfield as it is so new; but I think that is the one to have. The Springfield Armory company is based in my original hometown of Geneseo IL, and I went to high school with one of the owners. I work in Geneseo IL which is about 11 miles from my home in Cambridge.
If I were to need service on the XDs, I wouldn't have to go very far from home.

According to my research, they are still made in Croatia. Been looking at the XDM40 SC in All Black.

I have an XDm full-size 9mm bi-tone. It is fantastic. I looked at Glock 17s, M&Ps, CZs, and XDMs. They were all amazing but I liked the XDm the best. The only thing I'm going to change is the trigger. I'll be getting a Powder River Precision trigger sometime soon.
It's basically a Croatian HS2000, not sure if there are any differences at all other than Springfield being stamped on it.

I fondled a XD before walking over to the S&W M&P display. The XD just didnt feel right in my hand and the made in Croatia stamp turned me off even more. The M&P fits my hand better and feels far more comfortable all around. After shooting a friends CZ PO1 I would much rather have that on me than the M&P9c. Nothing wrong with the S&W, but I prefer an all metal hammer gun.

Yea, I absolutely love CZs. They're gorgeous guns. I'd like to get a classic CZ 75 someday.
Mitdr774, there is a big difference between holding an XD and an XDm, mainly because of the interchangeable back strap. I didn't care for the feel of the XDs either because I have large hands and long fingers.

I have yet to have a chance to handle an XDm. The location of manufacture still bugs me enough to turn me away. It would be like having a Corvette made in China.
I will be looking for a PO1 eventually.

How can you scoff at XD's because they are made in Croatia but praise a gun made in Czech-Republic?

+1. In terms of reliability, consistency, and build quality, I would run my XDm against any Glock, CZ or M&P. Countries like the Czech Republic and Croatia are quite capable of making world-class military firearms.

Dont have pics of it yet but a couple days ago I bought my first gun! A glock 23 gen 3 love and will be going eith a bud today to put the first rounds through it

I will post pics soon but I have a Maverick 88 12 gauge, Jimenez Arms .380, a Rossi 30-30 Rio Grande, and a Glock 23 and a Mossberg 22 I still need to get from my Stepdad.
