Help with accessing spark plugs on 1.4 engine

I've used the 2 finger one forever and I've never had a problem

I was tough by a wiser engineer, Torque to the correct spec with a torque wrench! LOL

Spec is 18 inch lbs in the 1.8
Spec shows 18 ft lbs for 1.4 but I believe this is written incorrectly.

I would probably use a 1/4" ratchet and just make sure it is snug.

Absolutely, but when you are 10 miles out in the back country of the FL Keys ... you probably won't have a torque wrench.

I always use the two finger technique an hasn't failed me yet. I'm sure a torque wrench would be better but eh it works either way.

So for those of us who are perfectionists does anyone know what the specified torque is on the spark plugs?

I would have to assume somewhere around 20ft\lbs.

RS Turbo put them up a few post ago. 18 ft lbs. Will do ya

Swordsmith, I'm not saying you did this. I'm just quoting that you had to use a lot of force to remove your plugs.
Just a note to anyone pulling their spark plugs, if you have aluminum heads (the sonic engines do) the engine must be cold. If not the plugs will be tight and you can take the threads out of the head with the spark plug. I have seen it happen and to fix correctly the head should be removed from the engine. Otherwise some shavings from drilling and tapping for a helicoil installation could be left in the cylinder and cause more damage.

So when i popped off that rail, with the spark plug boots on it, I broke one off the rail. Not just the rubber, but the plastic rod comming off the rail broke right at the rail. So the rubber boot, with the spings and all inside is still one unit, but that is just separate from the rail now.

this as the far left plug. so I put the boot back on the new plug, and put the rail back on. I figure the screws will hold the rail tight enough to that rail to make the plug fire. But I guess i need a new rail now. can i run the car like it is? I kind of have to.
