Installed Boost Gauge??

Just put a new Equus boost gauge in my car. Seems to work fine. I'd read on how to make a gauges lights work but I'm not sure I understand.

I took out my sunroof/SW fuse (Don't have a sunroorf) and put the wire into the right side of that...The boost gauge lights up...but it's not connected to the light controls...doesn't get brighter or dimmer with the toggle...doesn't turn off if I turn off the headlights/DRL's...

HOW, do I get that to work? And how to I actually connect into the fuse box. I just put a female connector on my positive and pushed it in the right side of the fuse spot...

HELP!? :)

If the gauge just draws constant power via the sunroof fuse, I'm going to wager the light inside it will be constant also and not dim or brighten with your dash lights. So that may be a let down 😕

I just ordered a Superbright LED... hope if fits.

During the day the gauge light is so weak I'd not see it...

Hmm, if what you are wanting to do is have your gage light up and turn off/dim with your headlights or dash lights, you will probably have to cut/splice into the actual light wires themselves. I don't think a simple fuse tap will provide the on/off power control.

Agreed...

Ahhhh just hit me. The busman can be used in the 10 amp headlight spot... or any 10amp spot... If I use the headlight spot it'll go on with the lights.

Problem solved.

Moved to "aftermarket crowd" due to a lack of a "DIY" I'm the original post. Glad you got it figured out.

Guys,

The gauge is in and working great, I just notice at levels approaching 10psi I'll hear the gauge click rapidly for a bit... is that normal for a mechanical boost gauge? I read on here somewhere (and can't find it now,) that noise is normal. I'll get really close to 10psi, then it'll make a rapid clicking/clocklike sound.

I emailed the company too, to get their thoughts...

hmm...i've personally never heard of a mechanical boost gauge clicking. only sense i can make of it is that if its a 10 psi gauge and you're pushing more than 10 psi, making the needle try to read more than it can, but idk

no, it's a 30 PSI vacuum and boost gauge... just gets real close to 10 psi (which I read is our OEM normal max)...and it clicks a little...

Factory boost is maxed between 16-18lbs. But will average 14psi in the summer. In winter i barely make 7psi due to colder temps.

yeah, it's been rather chilly as of late, so I'm not seeing higher boosts... I can understand, colder = denser so not as much is needed...

Odd, but on normal travel I'm not using any boost, it's really only used when needed (In OEM form) and lowers as the revs rise and the 4 valve setup can handle it from then on...

Bought a blue SuperbrightLED.com LED bulb.. now it matches the IP better.
