Interest, Hood Vent

Wouldn't you want the vents as close to the radiator fans as possible? So like in between the fan(s) and turbo?

Thats where they are, in the space between the radiator and motor. It might not look like it but if I moved the vents more to the front of the hood it would sit over the radiator brace.

Meh don't be a *****, the hood isn't gonna bend. I mean if it's there then some ducting from the fan going through there wouldn't be too bad of an idea

Not a lot of room but may be possible.

I like the look of the two vents but I don't quite like the way they're positioned. I think they would look better rotated 180 degrees so the corners point upwards. Though I understand that you chose that spot to avoid cutting up under the hood. Still really cool though!

True true, and I agree with the other guy saying to flip em 180* cause it looks like it would flow with the car better that way.

I will see if my template will still fit nicely even when flipped. It may still work but could push the two sides closer together.

It will fit reversed. You may hit into a brace or two but not serious depending on how close you place the two together. They sit about an inch forward than where I have my vent. Still well between the radiator/motor gap.

Again if you don't care about cutting hood supports than place them how you want. Just tell me which way you want the vents to go so I can give you (a) my orientation or (b) reverse orientation.

Did a temperature reading with my new gauges.

This was after a test drive I did. I installed my other probe under the hood near the battery.

RUN 1 (Probe 1)
Ambient Air Temperature: 79°F
Engine Bay Temperature: 110°F @ Idle, Pre Run 1
Engine Bay Temperature: 89°F @ 72 MPH
Engine Bay Temperature: 145°-155°F @ Idle, Post Run 1

RUN 2 (Probe 1)
Ambient Air Temperature: 77°F
Engine Bay Temperature: 145° @ Idle, Pre Run 2
Engine Bay Temperature: 91.7°F @ 72 MPH
Engine Bay Temperature: 132°F @ Idle, Post Run 2

Engine Bay Temperature: 129°F Engine OFF (Probe 1 Near Battery)
Vent Exhaust Temperature: 142°F Engine OFF (Probe 2)


I will try and move the probe under the hood closer to the vent next time. The probe wire is very short.

This isn't coolant temp, if that's what you mean. I could add that in using my Torque App.

Coolant temp should stay the same, because the thermostat regulates it.

Will need to discuss a few things.

1) Which direction you want the vents to face
a. Long Edge towards windshield
b. Long edge towards front of car

2) Mounting options
a. Rivets
b. Epoxy
c. 3M Tape (untested)

3) Finish Option
a. Raw 3D print (color black unless otherwise specified)
b. Filled and Smoothed 3D print (primer)

4) Center Piece
a. Logo
b. Illuminated Logo
