knocking when turning the wheel.

Anyone having any knocking when you turn the wheel? It seems like a cvt joint or something knocking when I turn the wheel. Anyone else having this issue?

Does it do it stopped or taking a corner? If while cornering is it on a hard turn or gradual turn? Are you getting anything over bumps while going straight?

I don't have this issue on mine, but I've heard a lot of owners on here have sway bar link issues. These will almost always make a fast rattling/clanking sound over bumps thou so it might not be your issue.

I'm assuming your going to take it to the dealer, but want some feed back first so give us as many details as you can and see if someone can remote diagnose it

I think I have the same thing going on, it's mostly noticeable at slower speeds. Parking lots, turning from one street to the next, etc. It started with a squeak that sounded like a bushing and now it's like of like a rub/bump/light grinding.

Yep, I noticed it while pulling out of my drive way and also when i was stopped at a stop light. I really dont want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to.

I think we are going to have to, I think it's something to do with the steering rack. It's kind of like it's shifting in it's mounts. I haven't gotten underneath it to really check it out though. I need to swap the second cat back in and bring it in to the dealer when I get back and hope they don't notice the Forge BOV...

Had that trouble.

I think around 15k my 1.4 started popping/knocking sound and it took 10k more before dealer could duplicate sound. It was my passenger side strut. It was found that it was cross threaded at factory. They replaced mount and strut and that stopped the knocking sound. The sound started first with low speed turns and then when I would back up and stop and on take off from a up hill start. Later, it would happen at low speeds over cracks and small bumps. Make sure to report any strange sound(s) to dealer on any problems. Then it will be logged/reported and if reported in the warranty period then it will be covered after warranty is past IF it takes that long to find problem.

That would make sense as well, I do not seem to have knocking over bumps though. Only when I am turning. I will bring up the struts while I'm there having it checked out though.

These problems aren't going away. Mine went from a loud annoying squeak for a few days to a low thud/thunk. And I agree, the ones of us that are experiencing this need to get them to the dealer to find out of this is just a noise or an actual safety issue.

I have the same steering wheel issues. I was able to get it to the dealer for documentation . They say there is no fix and it's been a long process and fight with them. Not liking my first GM
