You're making it over complicated. An eight foot long bar is stiffer than a ten foot long bar of the same material. A spring is just a bar that has been wound into a coil. As you remove material (or coils in this case), it gets stiffer.

And I don't know about all these theories, but I see enough bouncy 90s Hondas on cut springs to know I don't want to do that.

Funny stuff !! They are all over my city, there's a right way to lower a car and a wrong way, DON'T ever heat your springs or cut them, you will look like a clown bouncing down the street

The stock springs are indeed progressive (pig tail) springs.
