Hey everyone, sorry for not responding to all the new replies, I stopped recieving email notifications and assumed it had gone quiet until I stopped in to post tonight. I apologize as this will be a bit long, but please read through it.
To address a few questions that have come up. My floor mats were securely snapped into their place in the floor when this happened. I had well fitting sneakers on as well, so it wasn't a flip flop under there either

My car does not have cruise control, so that wasn't a contributing factor.
When this was happening, I did not shut the car off at all. I pulled the ebrake first to stop myself from rearending the person in front of me. Throwing it in Neutral still would have caused a collision at the time.
After I pulled the ebrake I waited for the road ahead to clear out before disengaging it with the car still on. Idle took over and I went into a controlled roll. The car then popped down into neutral and then reverse as I was rolling forward. I pulled aside to a fairly safe area and then I shut the car off for a few.
Also, when that happened my brakes did not engage. I'd estimate I was without brakes for about 30 seconds despite pumping the pedal with gusto.
What's currently going on:
I'm still having issues. for the last 500 miles or so (Currently at 3300) my car has intermittently been showing the gear in reverse while I am on the highway doing 65. It doesn't shift into reverse, the indicator is just reading reverse. This has happened 6 or 7 times, and last 15-30 before it reverts back to drive. The car still has not thrown a fault code relevant to these issues.
Thankfully I have not had another close call as I did last month, I did however experience another 1 minute burst of acceration while my foot was NOT on the pedal. the rpms dropped momentarily as I let off the gas before revving about 750rpm above what I was coasting at. It upshifted and gained 8mph in speed before I applied the brake, which thankfully worked this time, and the rpm's started dropping.
Both times this has happened I was doing between 30-40mph. I'm wondering if that might narrow down the problem, or at least help recreate it.
Tuesday morning my check engine light came on, and I brought it back down to the dealership. I was Irate and threw the service tech my keys and told him to tell his boss that they would either fix it tonight, or keep it; permanently. They finally took me seriously.
The manager came out and we discussed the same issue I was having previously, as well as the new check engine light. I was so excited, I thought maybe the problem finally came to light and could be documented.
Unfortunately, it turned out when the dealership did my oil change this past friday, their tech cross threaded the plug and damaged a sensor which is why the service light didn't come on until monday. They also completed the warranty repair for the airbags.
They kept the car overnight, and did 30 miles of road tests with the car hooked up for a live data feed. They could not recreate the problem, and they said everything looked fine.
I just got the car back yesterday, and tonight I've already had another issue.
I'm sure I sound crazy. From the research I done, none of these things should really be possible, but they're happening. I wonder if toyota owners felt like they were losing it when their gas pedals were sticking.
I've owned GM vehicles all my life. All classics, my first car was an 81 El camino, , then an 81 c10. The c10 had the original motor, and was reliable. It truly stood the test of time. I had the utmost confidence in their products.
After finding burnt and melted rubber bands hanging off the valve cover gasket when I went to fill my washer fluid tank, and then the burn remains of stickers on my exhaust, I lost any and all faith I had in GM. The people they employ don't give a **** about quality or safety.
I was willing to consider my mechanical (electrical?) issues a fluke and try to get things resolved. It's a brand new model, and I wasn't expecting perfection, but I thought I was getting a relatively safe vehicle.
If I wanted to spend 18k on a weapon, I would have bought a barrett .50 cal and saved myself some money.
I have a brand new car I've owned since february, and I've only put 2700 miles on it. Why? Because I am scared to drive it. I go to work and home. I have friends pick me up when I go out. I can't even ENJOY my investment.
To my knowledge the saved data on the car showed nothing out of the ordinary, along with the live data feed.
The dealership told me to take a picture. Anything less, and the problem doesn't exist.
