Have you tried the chocolate chip? Its not bad better than the mocha but < caramel....

The first day or two I noticed that if you tried to do a power run in first to second, the engine bogged and it was hard to shift into second. I never got any grinding out of it, but I definitely knew something was off.

I've since figured out that if I use full throttle up to 5500rpm, then go to half throttle or so until 5700+ rpm then it's way easier to get the second gear shift right. The car doesn't like to be shifted hard, understandable for an economy car.

Driving normally I don't shift hard...only when needed....I feel I take it easy on my car. I used to drive my Park Avenue S/C like a grandpa and got into it from time to time and made me ....the grandpa car surprised most people refusing to let me over...

I think this car is enjoyable if you learn it's quirks. I just avoid shifting hard and make sure the clutch is fully disengaged/engaged before going in and out of gear. I usually take first gear to about 3500rpm, second gear to 4500rpm, and third gear to 5500rpm. It lets me experience the boost while preventing grinding and bogging the engine.

My 1.4L LTZ 6 speed manual grinds from 1st to 2nd as well. Bad thing is that I was not even revving it very high as I was still in the "break in" period. I shifted from 4k out of 1st and it grinded with only 200 or so miles on the odometer. Today with 450 miles it grinded at 3500 rpm. I am frustrated that it is doing this as I am sure in the future I will rev it to 3500 or above in 1st. My 2012 Malibu with the 6 speed slush box shifts past 3500 all the time in 1st. Granted it is an automatic transmission but come on....I should be able to shift past 3500 in a manual with no problems..right? (P.S. if anyone is wondering I learned how to drive with a manual and drove a truck 150k miles with a manual so I'm not a novice or beginner)

Indy....please take the bulletin information I provided to your dealer and have them perform that on your car.....yours may be more out of adjustment than others....that or it was made on a Friday

i plan on switching to redline just bc i have always used redline and have loved the results. As for my 1.4 i have never grinded yet but i dont power shift at redline, but i do shift at 5500rpm all the time

Mines ok if I shift before 5K. But it has been pretty bad past that rpm range. Sometimes it grinds and slides right in, sometimes i it grinds and I have to force it in and sometimes it'll kick me out of second... on a used car I would think its the syncro acting up.

Anyway I'll post my findings in a few days

thanks for this info, apply to the 5spd too? Sometimes it seems I have to be just right with that 1-2 and being left handed/footed my right is slower to react than the left foot so I tend to work the clutch pretty good and just slam the shifter

So I took my car in to the dealer today. After 3 hours they had done the waher hose recall, when I asked about if they performed the bulletin the service writer said my condition did not match the bulletins symptons, apparently he wrote done the 1-2 grind but forgot to put in that it would also kick out of gear (which is a sympton per bulletin)

He also said that I have to put my exhaust back on and remove "aftermarket accesories" before they will diag it.. hell all I've got is my ultrgauge plugged in.. I've serviced cars with more mods than that and only give them that line if it is responsible for the problem. And that was BMW who I know is more stringent on their warrenty procedures..

Anyrate I'm not very happy. If I hadn't gone to the dealer i'd have my ZZP downpipe on now... looks like I'm doing this mod myself :/

Sooooo how does your after market accessories have anything to do with the washer hose? Tell them to make your next car payment and you'll be glad to leave it stock

I called into my dealer. The bulletin didn't apply to my sonic. hmmm, does that mean the REDLINE MT90 fixed my problem?, i believe so... hehehe

Peckerwood, maybe your problem/issue was more mild compared to others...although Redline is going to be one of my next mods, along with the shifter bushings

I called my local dealer and they were very helpful. Asked for my vin, I supplied it, I mentioned that I searched for my symptoms and the shifter alignment tsb was a result. She searched it and said yep that's something we can do. To top it off, the corvette transmission specialist is going to be the one working on my sonic

Apparently he is very popular with the aftermarket corvette guys and used to build drag cars back in the day.

Upon speaking with my uncle (former GM Skill of trades), mentioned my Sonic he informed me that the Corvette suspension engineers designed the Sonic's suspension.

Experienced my first second gear grind today. It was a hard shift above 5500rpm, but it was a clean shift I didn't miss the gear or anything like that. It just grinded for some reason. Also, just got tuned today so maybe the extra power is causing it to grind.
