As per service information the 6 Speed shifter knob and boot are removed as an assembly. Need a flat blade tool to pop off the top shifter plate cover and then it uses a screw/allen/torx head bolt that unscrews and then the knob and boot slide off.
So I actually like the stock shift knob quite a bit, but after 2 years and 36k miles, it is breaking. The plastic on the grip started coming loose a while ago, and just yesterday I found that the top part with the gears on it is completely loose now. Probably just going to glue it back together, but was just a weird issue.
Is it possible to get a shorter shifter? Like literally a shorter shifter this thing is tall.

I have the sparco shift knob meant for our set up and I have measured how much I can take off the rod, take off the plastic for the reverse lockout so it will still function...otherwise you can do like other members and chop and run without the lockout function.
So it'll be reverse with no lockout? My old Audi didn't have a lockout reverse
