how does that bypass work out, what about normal driving?
Worked great. The line from the manifold side was popping off so I put a little black RTV on it. No issues after that.

The hood scoop looks a little dainty for my taste. To get the same affect couldn't I get a stick on hood scoop, place it right over my k&n filter and cut out the shape in my hood. It would guide the air to my filter the same right?
Plus removable!I think the point of his scoop is it is effective and doesn't require a Pep Boys stick on scoop with a hole cut into the stock hood. I'd much rather have something that is a clean "non cutting" install, inconspicuous (or dainty as you put it) and effective.

........ We did some extensive air testing with yarns taped to the entire hood and drove around. Watching the yarn there is really no volume of air on the surface. We made little stand offs with welding wire and got the yarns up at 1" and 2" off the surface and found air volume. We also had to make the scoop come fwd at least 5" from the end of the hood to get air flow............
believe it or not there is not a lot of air at a substantial pressure in the center area of the hood. when we did the driving tests with the yarns on the hood the most volume of air that had any force behind it was out on the outer 6" of the hood, the center was kind of dead from mid hood back to the cowl unless you got up 6" off the surface of the hood. you would have to use a dead dolphin pro stock scoop like warren Johnson has on his pro stock. that's why those drag racing scoops are so high, so they are up in clean air where they can get some pressure. I know, I have done a couple air induction setups on pro mod cars for friends of mine

i was overview this thread and still doesn't know what is all the massing around this weird looking hood scope?
i don't want to be the bad guy or a party pooper, but this is really unnecessary.
this is a sonic... with a 1.4 liter small turbo engine.
there is really no need for such.
after a few pulls at full boost, the temp will go higher no matter what you will do.
it won't make any different, even if you will take the air filter out side the car.
and there were a bunch of tests that done this with the same conclusion.
additionally, and this is my opinion only, the scoop looks horrible on the car.
