2014 Sonic, purchased new in September of '14.
$20,355 sticker, paid $9466 plus tax, title and license after my dealer discount, factory rebate, USAA rebate, GM credit card cash and cashing in some ACDelco points (I work for an ACD warehouse distributor).
I only financed the car because I learned while getting the paperwork for the USAA $750 rebate (for being a veteran), that they would loan me money for 1.39%.
We're earning 2.24 - 5% on our money in our checking accounts (we have 2) and our CD's (fully funded emergency fund+) - so it doesn't do us any good to pay it off early.
Current balance is $2,981.80 before my June 18th payment.
When Sonic is paid off in 7 months, We'll just add the car payment amount to my house payment (only other debt we have).
Trying hard to be 100% debt free when we retire in 5 years.
Can't believe some of the rates that some members have as well. Or just even the monthly payments.. $400.. $500 a month I've seen from a few of you.. for a car payment?? Was hardly anything, if anything, put down on it when you bought it?? I realize a lot of people might not have the luxury but this is exactly why I've just written a check for the 4 cars that I've owned. Don't have to mess around with a payment, I truly own the car, and I can get rid of it at anytime without having to worry about the lien or any of that.
