It would help to know what your target horsepower and desired powerband, also how far you're willing to go in beefing up the internals. Those variables can drastically change the ideal turbo for your application.

To anyone who was looking for an update... i dont have one but i am checking in. everything is going in the right direction. i am getting to the point of parts purchasing. so i will keep everyone informed on here but bear with me its gonna take a minute
need a header flange. and i know BNR had me hooked up and i kinda dipped out on em so i feel like a dick but i need to get one still
got list:
boost controller greddy prospec bII
garrett t 25 turbo. need an exducer and a seal/bearing kit.
intercooler. mounts built, in car now.
charge pipe., routed but not too happy about connections. i want flanges on the pipe tails. need to figure that out.
oil lines and resivoir are free any time i want
what am i missing for a turbo system...... ?
seriously im drawing a blank..

X18XE1 is the engine model that was offered in a saab 9-3 made from 2002 to 2012 i think. with that being said it is an ecotec engine and is the same family as the 1.8 LUW in our 1.8 cars.
so with that being said. what does anyone think the chances are that one of these bolts up to out trannys. if thats the case then a donor motor could be found here.
another odd deal about this is that the 1.8 and 2.0 saab are listed as being the same in a lot of places and not just on specific parts but literally the engine itself which i know makes absolutely no sense but some guys on a swedish saab forum did a swap of 2.0 cobalt head and supercharger on to his 1.8/2.0 saab car.
so, someone..help me out with this thought please?

You have to be careful with how Saab lables engines. It might say 1.8 but is actually a 2.0.
The X18XE1 is a few generations before the A18XER we use. It was used in the 9-3 from 04-09. Not sure I would spend the money to swap in a 114hp/123tq engine.
The "1.8t" used in Saabs is actually a 2.0L and is the lowest power turbo engine in the line. The 1.8t, 2.0t, and 2.0T are essentially the same engine with different turbos and programming. Those engine share a lot with the LSJ. These engines are all part of the Family II series.
A somewhat common swap in the Cavalier world was to take the turbo setup from a Saab 2.0T and install it on a 2.2L Eco (same engine family as LK9 and LSJ). Our engine will not mate to the trans for these engines.

Update....i am working on it. I will update further later... if anyone finds any connection on a 1.8 motor for a few hundred and wants to help out let me know immedietly....i need a motor...then the magic happens...its in that order

You need to do some very in depth research. Theres many ways to do it. Every car has different ins and outs. Why from a 3000gt. How much boost. You ready to grenade your stock block. What compression ratio and corrected pressures will your cylinders see by the time u make a wot pull....

A cruze in detroit with a 1.8 in it... broken valve cover. Turns over no start thats all i know so far. If the motor turns over its still square. So...waiting for the wrecker to email me back monday or ill call monday and talk to him... i dont know where river rat is at but he noted car-part.com and i thank him. Theres a few possibilities on there to get an engine or a pair and put a good motor together.

Let me know the progress i said this on another thread I'm new with turbos i have a 1.8 and i was hoping i could buy a turbo kit eventually so I'm hoping you figure it out any way best of luck to you is there any way you could order the ecotech 1.6 t and use those parts to maybe fit better?
