Ive been extremely busy with other projects and the sonic got put on back burner for a bit. I need a motor. Theres not really anything to show off for my car. Ive built all kinds of parts just not the go fast kind of parts.
My build log shows pretty much all ive done. Interior wise and whatnot but nothing motor wise yet.
The vinyl wrap will be getting done end of this month. Ive got 2 sets of wheels and tires. 1 set needs sand blasted and powder coated. So its apart the other set could roll but im getting coilovers next on my list so exterior and interior will be done except small parts. I really need to locate a motor but even at that point this is gonna be a while.
I hope you guys understand im not building a turbo kit thats easily replicated for use on an n/a motor system. My build will be built to race and nothing less. End goal is in the 500 plus to the wheels range. Ive done much more power before. Im actually concerned (yea concerned) that ill make more than that. Biggest issue here... someones gotta build me a trans from scratch basically with parts to hold 750 plus if i intend to have thats trans last... thats a few thousand at the least on a good trans. Axles will be next in line.
This car is gonna break it self to peices if i turbo it and throw it in. I could but theres no point for me. Any guys with the 1.8 wanna do something cool. Turbo your car. The only hurdle is turbo location and piping. if you can fabricate a bit then thats handled... boost a few psi on the stock set up and with all bolt ons and correct building youll stomp 1.4s all day. Thats not a question
I dont care about beatin a 1.4 im out to absolutely smoke evos wrxs gtis v8 anything. No problem. Im shooting for high 10s in the sonic. And it will do it. But its not gonna be soon. I need a cage a badass trans, axles and a motor to build. Diamond engineering pistons. Crane can make the cams or gm blanks hardwelded and machined in my shop. I need a turbo and a bnr flange. I need scat rods out of a honda h18 h beams that are milled out in the journal and ground for wrist pins floating. Crank will probably be okay but machining one from scratch and having it ground and balanced really isnt a big deal either. its a lot of parts and alot of **** to hunt down and custom make. Valvetrain is a baby of its own on swappable parts and custom made.
I could babble longer but this is an extensive rant already. Its just not fast and i have no progress. Im frustrated too. I cant beleive i havent found a motor at a decent price. Throwin out almost a grand for something thats almost all junk to me besides the block and a core head... im looking and i will update as soon as i find a motor. If anyone knows of one obviously let me know but until then im stuck for a bit
