Need IPhone 5 owners help
GM is insisting that my intermittent Bluetooth connect and disconnect is because of my IPhone 5. It is not the latest release just a 5. It has the latest IOS.
There are times when connection is solid other times it will not stay connected and drops and reconnects. Since no one else seems to have a problem with there iphone I do not believe it is a compatibility issue.
Please I need some input from other Sonic MyLink owners.

My iPhone 5s also has the same issue, as did my 4s. However, it only happens once in a while when first starting the car, and after one or two re-connections, it stays connected for the duration of the drive.
The other thing I have noticed is it does not reliably fill in the call history. Seems to be a 50/50 shot as to if it loads all three categories or just one. This also happened on both phones. I really think Chevy has some more work to do on the software driving this system. Not to say it could not be Apple's fault in some way, but it did happen on two different phones with both iOS 6 and iOS 7 so I think that is less likely.

Hi Guys, there is a way to unlock the anti theft protection MyLink to install in another Sonic?
I bought the MyLink system from a friend and want to install on my Sonic. There is that possibility? He can be unlocked to work on my car?
IN EBAY ADD I Saw this:
Unlocking... The VIN (vehicle identification number) is stored in the radio for security reasons. If you install a used radio into your car or truck the VIN in that radio will not match the VIN in the your vehicle, when the VIN doesn't match the radio will lock up and not allow any functions to operate. When we unlock a radio we will clear the VIN so it will automatically learn the VIN of the next vehicle it's plugged into, once the VIN is learned the radio is "married" to that vehicle. Once the radio is "married" it will operate only in that vehicle.
Programming... When we program the radio it will set it up for the country, amplifier type, speaker type and the amount of speakers. The tuner can be set for the following countries: North America, Japan, Europe, China, Israel, Guam and Middle East/Saudi Arabia. The speakers can be set up for the following: Short bed, long bed, utility, extended cab, crew cab & Avalanche. This will assure the balance and fader will work properly.

I have a my link radio in my Sonic RS, and all of a sudden the radio won't turn on. It happened before but was able to resolve by restarting my car, now. Nothing isn't working.

I know the Sonic MyLink is different than that offered in other Chevrolets, but the Camaro and Corvette (C7) forum seem to have as many posts about MyLink problems as this forum has. And the fix seems to be remove and replace which makes me wonder who bears the cost of the replacement unit, Chevrolet or the MyLink suppler?

Bluetooth disconnect/ reconnect
Still dealing with MyLink unable to lock in the Bluetooth connection. GM Regional, dealer, Customer Service etc, all working to resolve the problem. Thanks GM for your concern with my problem. I kind of think that others may be having the issue also.

FYI
I have had numerous issues with my Bluetooth. GM and customer service has been working for a solution.
Today the radio would not turn on. I was notified that they are replacing my unit when it arrives next week.
This is the first time that it would not turn on. Dkennedy, sounds like yours is heading for replacement also.

Thanks to Jackie, Jordan, Omar with GM, and Sherri at my dealer for their concern to get it right. Looking forward to the new MyLink and fingers are crossed that it solves my two month issue.

I'm going to start conducting a series of more or less scientific tests with my phone with respect to bluetooth. I've noticed that it usually (though not always) doesn't auto-connect when I turn on the car, but going into Telephone from the home screen always connects. I've noticed random disconnects/dropouts a couple times.
Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that if their phone is in the glove box that they don't seem to have this problem. I'm wondering if it's a proximity/range issue. I'm going to start testing whether placing my phone in one of the center stack bins before I turn the car on helps with both auto-connect and random disconnects. I'll also continue to track the same data when my phone is in my pocket.
It'll be interesting (at least to me) to see the results. Just kind of curious to see if maybe this is a range issue, and the driver's seat it just a hair too far for the in-dash BT module to reach with 100% reliability.
(Oh, and I've also had the XM reset itself to CH 1 for no reason. Not a biggie to me, since I don't intend to subscribe after my trial is up.)

Good luck with that. My issue of connect and disconnect has been totally random. GM tech team personally check it out with me and my iPhone at my dealer. They agreed that it must be the unit and are replacing it. Supposed to have been yesterday but I rescheduled for next week. On a side note we spent 8 hours yesterday in our Buick encore and my phone stayed connected with no issues.

Alright, so my proximity theory went down in flames this morning, when it wouldn't sync no matter where it sat in the car. I even powered it off and then on again and put it in the right console stack pocket. No dice. Tried to force the connection again. Nope.
So now, in my case, it's down to either a radio issue or a phone issue. Seeing as how my phone is pretty beat up and due for a replacement in the next month or three, I'll just wait to replace it and try this all over again before I bug Chevy about it. I'm used to having no bluetooth integration anyway, so this isn't a big issue. Yet.

Just picked up my sonic from dealer who replaced the MyLink unit. Seems to have taken care of the problem. Hard to express how well the dealer, GM tech people and customer service here on the forum and through GM company took care of my issue and worked to satisfy me. Thanks to all who were involved. :banana:

I know I must not be the only person to think of this. Does anyone make a screen protector for the mylink screen? I did a google search but only came up with a guy selling them on the gen 5 camaro forum. Does anyone know if the screen size is the same?

The MyLink radios are encoded to a specific VIN (one specific vehicle) at the factory. This is so they don't get stolen and used in other vehicles. If your friend removed it from his car and you put it in yours, it may not work. Best case you can hope for is that, if you take it to a dealer, they can reprogram it to work in your car.
I can't guarantee that will work, though. You may have just bought yourself a very fancy paperweight.

As far as I know no one has made the transplant in a Sonic although there has been a great deal of discussion about it. A MyLink has been put in a 2010/11 Camaro but not inexpensively. Here in the US a few have asked Chevy dealers but no dealer has tried it, if my memory serves.
