Tune + octane booster

I have seen nothing for people running a tune and using an octane booster.

Has anyone done it on the day to day driving, or just once in a blue moon ?

Will it give me more MPG or more MPG and power.

Will it affect it at all, i know you shouldn't run 87 on a tune, i run only on 93, except when the wife takes my car and says honey i filled up your car for you, i say 93 right. She then says oops no, i put as as usual Arrrg

but I couldn't find anything about higher octane.

Ocatne booster is a gimmick at best. I find it hard to believe that only 87 is available around you. Quite a few vehicles on the road require 91 minimum.

You won't see any gains from higher octane if you don't update your tune for it.

I am running 93 currently, and just sent in my first data log( I just got tuned on we'd night)

Still awaiting a retune file to upload

So stay away from the gimmicks then

Yeah, unless you are a seasoned petroleum chemist, I'd stay away from it.

If one were to know the formula on adding a booster to 91 to bring to 93 doesn't ECP learn and adjust timing accordingly?

Also run top tier fuels as well. Had the same situation you described happen with my wife. A guy who delivers fuel says the stores cut and water down the fuel so to cab bet your ass the cheaper stations like Arco are doing that. I won't even run Valero in mine. Shell,chevron,Texaco,Mobil,76 that's it

I think the stock tune does adjust via intelliboost.

But ECP just uses the MAP among other sensors to to calculate how much air and the density of said air, to decide on how much fuel to add to achieve ideal AFR.

Unless someone can explain that I'm wrong, ECP doesn't directly control timing advance.

intelliboost/smart octane sensor is where it will dial back timing when it detects knock. Vince meant stock tune, although it's in the budget tune as well, and can be in the full tune.

ECP is for calculating air, not fuel.

Why bother calculating air, if its not going to use that data for fuel ratio?

That's why nonECP doesn't work for BOV's, because without reading the ECP it can't reduce the fuel accordingly.

good catch, I stumbled over my words. ECP calculates the proper AFR for a given octane, but it doesn't adjust for a different octane.

Interesting idea just conceived..... I wonder if one were to install the fuel composition sensor and enable the flex program on their tune without the intention of e85 or larger injectors, could they then play with octane increases? Less than $100 in parts.

Seems like an inexpensive mod if it yields gains, considering Foxbox's triumph with 93.

Vince won't do a select a tune for different fuels.

that would do the trick. hahaha. unfortunately, you'd need a clutch to take advantage of that 100%.
