I'd much rather have a turbo that offers good mid range power than pure top end.
Ideally I'd like to have 250 ft-lbs from 3500-5500.

If you have the fortified 1.4, then you would have a wide variety of choices to accomplish that. And with reasonable boost levels which even widen your options.
For my goal of all out peak horsepower, I'm really limited. I'm not gonna see 300hp with anything less than 25psi and even then, I'm very unlikely to see those numbers on the street as I'll need to be above 4-4,500 rpm to hit my boost.
But I've chosen to be "that guy", to find out the peak limit, for the sake of data and trendsetting. It would be great to see what a more reasonable turbo upgrade can put down on a dyno, not to mention the asphalt.

I have the 1.4. I'd like to leave the block and head as stock as possible. Which options would I be looking at?
250 ft-lbs @ 5500 rpm is only 261 hp
250 ft-lbs @ 3500 rpm is 167 hp
it looks like i would need 29.6 psi @ 5500 rpm to get that as whp, and only 23 psi @ 5500 if i want 261 hp as crank HP, which seems really do-able
if I want the full 250 ft-lbs from 3500 rpm I'd need to be able to spool up to 23 psi by that rpm. is that possible with only 1.4L?
assuming it can hold 200 ft-lbs to 6500 rpm it'd be only 247 hp near redline
how high can can the stock head rev with just upgraded valve springs?

We don't know yet, but at least 7,200. That's where the stock ECU goes blind.
I'm making close to 250ft-lbs crank on e85 with the stock turbo. I dyno'd at 213wtq way back before I got the red pill.
So I imagine just a couple sizes up from the stock GT14 would have the capacity for 250wtq at mid through high rpm.
Garrett's site has a great app that lets you punch in all your specs and needs and gives you a handful of turbo options to compare.

There is a wide range of turbos I could use, especially if I tweak my goals slightly. It looks like the 2052 or 2259 will probably be the best bets. I'm not sure how to read the turbo maps though.

At the end of the app, click on a turbo it has chosen for your specs. It'll plot a red dot where your mid spec was entered and another where you peak spec is.
You want the line between the two dots to spend most its time near the center island. Doesn't have to be down in the island, but at least skim through it near the top.

Ok, I will try to post some graphs later. Also what other settings should I be using for AFR, fuel flow, VE, pressure loss, and IC efficiency?

How does a new turbo affect your clutch?
You can get a new turbo that only adds 20hp. Your question is too vague. So I'll give you a vague answer: it depends.

I'm sure Vince will correct me if I'm wrong but the Rigid clutch is ok with the stock Dual Mass flywheel since it absorbs some shock loads.
The rigid clutch and lightweight flywheel didn't offer any form of shock dampening. Hard launches put alot of load on the clutch and with nothing to absorb them it quickly sheared off the rivets on Pre's clutch disk.
His new sprung disk adds back some shock dampening.
