I'm building a LQ4 for my 66 C10 pickup:
LQ4 including wiring harness and ECM: $1000
NEW LS3 CNC heads, GMPP ASA cam and gaskets / bolts: $1800
Projected output should be 500 - 550hp on pump gas.![]()
I've been looking for a decent price on a tko600, but will probably have to buy new for about $3k...![]()
May I ask why the TKO600 over the T56?
LS7 block is a little iffy - siamesed bores, and not boost friendly. Awesome if you want to keep it NA, and don't mind dry sump oiling.
Beautiful motors.![]()
I set up the chassis to run a SBC / T5 combination:

The TKO has the same exterior dimensions, mounting locations, and output shaft as the T5; the T56 is bigger, needs a different bellhousing / flywheel / clutch.
And.... all of the T56 trannies around me seem to be in need of a rebuild but still command a premium price. Besides, I think I'll get along just fine with a 5 speed in a 3500 lb truck with 500+ hp.![]()
I wasn't suggesting he boost the ls7. Just offering a different alternative to achieve his horsepower goals.![]()

I suggested that
**** you auto correct!
I should read the whole thread next time lol![]()
I decided to go with an all motor build. And build it so if i wanted to add a small shot of nitrous later i could.
The point of this project for me is to actually build the engine and put in a car. Not modify an existing engine. If that's all your doing I wouldn't even waste the time in building it up. A stock LSX motor can take up to 150shot with just a tune.
