Who uses the arm rest?

I use it when I'm pulling something on turns. Just hold the knob and let the armrest be used as something to yank on with my arms while sliding sideways lol

It works really well for tall people, as their torso length compensates for the height of the armrest.

I'm 6'7" and it fits me perfectly, whereas most armrests in most cars are too low for me.

In fact, the Sonic in general fits me very well. I sat in the new Silverado standard cab - no go. Corvettes and Camaros are no go. Impalas and Malibus have less headroom than the Sonic.

I don't even need to have the seat all the way back. I sit about 4 notches forward to be comfy. I cannot say that about most cars.

I folded myself into the C7 Vette the other day when I was at the dealer. God, I love that car but I don't fit.

My uncle has a c6 and its too narrow. S2000, same deal. Car is like 2 feet wide lol. I fit better in my uncles 2 Lamborghini gallardos than I do in the vettes. Kinda stupid. I've always been a diehard Miata fan but wont buy one because it is wayyyyy too small. My head sticks above windshield haha. My buddies Toyota mr2 spyder was a better fit than that.

Im 6'1 and its to high for me, but I have 3' arms... it needs to be down about 2 inches or so, wish they could make it adjustable...

I only use it on extremely long trips, like when my wife and I travel back to PA. Usually around town, I leave it up though as I find it interferes with shifting and makes it hard to set the handbrake.

I think the armrest is a very poor design, it's even difficult to lower and raise it even if I wanted to use it. It's a shame too, because I use the armrest in all my other vehicles.

I would be down to replacing the center console just for the extra space for people in the passenger side to have a place to rest their arm but the stock arm rest is in a nice location to where the shifter is. I will admit it does get in the way if I need to pull the e-brake for any emergency situations or if I need to be able to get around a corner when it's slick outside and the car doesn't want to turn.

I always use it. It keeps me from resting my hand on the shifter. It isn't comfortable for me to put my arms to my side or in my lap

I use mine also. I leave it down all the time and have just leaned to reach around it for the seatbelt and Ebrake

I think the design and placement of the armrest is awful. I know GM is trying to cut costs, but why would they not have one for the passenger. This is the one real beef my wife has about my car.

I expect GM has heard more than one person complain about the armrests and yet they still come out with new cars that have just the one. Amazing.

I think they are in a no win spot...

if they add the arm rests then the cup holders become worthless...

in this case, someone aint gonna be happy either way. I'd like a center console that doubles as an arm rest for both... but I'm not on the design team

It's an eco armrest. I lower it, hit cruise control, and my mpg's increase by obscene amounts. With it up, I can shift and the transmission begins to eat my mpg's :blankface:

That's interesting, because I'm 6'4 and it's uncomfortable. It raises my shoulders too high by an inch. So, I just simply lower my elbows to my hips and don't use either armrest.

Leaving a hand on the shifter is a bad practice.

For whom?

I've been leaving my right hand on the shift knob for 30 years. When can I expect this bad practice to affect me?

relatively poor design, and extremely hard material … I use it, but wish it were more comfortable … a bigger problem is the hardness of the door arm rest … VERY uncomfortable … and even a bigger problem is the narrowness of the window ledge … can't rest my elbow on it (with the window up)
