ZZP Sonic Intake

Hmmm, if the chart does not show wheel hp, that would appear to mean I lost 8hp when I installed the cat back no muffler exhaust.

As I already said, the tuned/zzp chart tracks the stock tune/zzp until about 64mph when the two separate as the zzp freer flowing intake allows the car to produce slightly more (6hp/4tq) power from 64mph straight thru to 92mph.

Still hot air though. Going to be 112 out today, and I can't justify heat soaking my engine in traffic for even those kind of gains. The wait continues for those of us living in the desert.

I noticed that when I went looking if they had posted the dyno chart. Getting a functional intake that does not throw cels is not easy. To bring people up to date, I drove the Sonic over to ZZP about a month ago, they looked the car over that afternoon to develop ideas, I took the car to them before 9am the next day and returned at 5pm, and they were still testing. Then I returned Tuesday, where they had the car all day and it was still on the dyno when I left. About 11am Wednesday I got the call that all was done.

Even though the Sonic uses the same turbocharged engine that the Cruze uses, the Sonic has much less room in the engine bay, so the part itself is somewhat different and mounting is completely different. Before I left I asked how long before fulfilling the pre-orders and tho not specific I felt within days and I do expect it will be within days tho the site says 2-3months.

I don't intend to ever go much over 70+mph. I got that out of my system on my sportbike with the help of excessive speeding tickets:blankface:
Would the ZZP intake be an ineffective use of my money/time? Would I see more usable gains with an aftermarket exhaust on my 1.4T Manual?

I am prejudiced toward a well designed exhaust system, particularly if there are no plans to tune. There will be chartable gains from the exhaust and they will not be affected by the engine control module's desire to keep everything going thru the engine at OEM specs.

But an intake can be fun, its just that if I were asked to choose between one or the other, I would go exhaust. And I have done both.

I highly doubt it, not a single item that we know of that they have produced have they ever submitted for CARB certification.
