So, I've been noticing the last couple weeks something has been "weird" about my engine again. I haven't been able to place it yet. And then the last few fill-ups, I've had a dramatic drop in fuel efficiency. I installed an ultra-gauge on Monday. I haven't been able to set up all the pages yet, but watching some of the basics. Last night my car threw a pending P0299 again, according to the gauge. So, not enough to trip CEL, but confirms my suspicions that something wasn't quite right. Of course this happens on holiday weekend and I can't schedule a trip to the dealer.
I need some advice on what to look for. I don't know how to read the boost gauge, to know if it's boosting/reading correctly. Anyone else with an Ultra-Gauge that can give me some tips on a good page set up?
The check-valve in the turbo was replaced on the last repair which *supposedly* fixed all the issues I was having.
The scenario last night when the alarm sounded:
Rainy, full passengers, merging onto hwy ramp, accelerating and maintaining hwy speed, but not WOT, by any means going about 50-53mph.
It felt lately like it has a "hiccup" when accelerating. It's hard to describe I guess. Also when I take foot off the pedal it seems to decelerate faster than normal. Almost as if applying the brakes. (My husband notices this more than I do-it's like the car hates to coast. I believe that that is just an auto-trans thing.)
Idk. I want to look at things myself but am not confident about it without a repair manual available to me. This is my FIRST ever turbo in my 22 years owning/driving a car. It feels so different than anything I have ever driven, and I have to say I'm a bit intimidated.
Looking for support again guys. Any advice would be awesome.
