To the people waiting for me to post this sorry it took so long. This is the procedure to disable onstar and also keep your hands free Bluetooth calling. I started with the procedure on the chevy cruze forum but i did not want to mess with removing the airbag, this alternate procedure works just as well. If you have small hands you might be able to reach up behind the box and just disconnect the wire without removing anything. You will need a ratchet, extension and the metric equivalent of 9/32 socket. I used the 9/32 without a problem was just a little loose on the bolts.
Remove your glove box from the car and set it aside.
Remove the side access panel on the passenger side, it is just attached with the pop out tabs
The onstar module is in the top right corner, circled in green, with the back facing you. It has writing on it about blue tooth. Remove the two screw in the picture, circled in green, one up top and the other in the middle of the module. Trying to release the tabs and slide the module out does not work.
After the screws are out pop off the wire fastener securing the wire bundle that runs in front of the onstar module, move it out of the way.
Push the module backwards and up to release the plastic hook by the top screw, once that is released wriggle the module out of dash until you can reach the wires on the back.
On the back you will see a wire bundle up top, circled in red, leave that alone or you loose your Bluetooth and possibly the car will not run, I did not try it to see. At the bottom you will see a brown square with a square black rectangle, circled in red, that is your Bluetooth antenna, don't disconnect it either. In the middle you will see a black wire with a red base, circled in green, that is the onstar antenna disconnect the antenna.
Re install everything back the way it was. When i pushed the blue button onstar still worked but they where unable to locate my GPS position. The green lamp in the mirror that normally glows green now shows a steady red.
