You need a maybe option. Its too early for me to tell so I will not cast a vote. But I do have my doubts on the transmission. I probably would, but the biggest selling point for me was the unlimited warrenty offered by my Chevy dealer

No if it was for me (not really my thing 9 months in). Yes if it was for my wife (where my RS is ultimately going).

I said yes, but I'd probably get an auto rather than the MT. I've driven MT cars almost exclusively for the 32 years I've been driving (and come to think of it, farm trucks and dirt bikes makes it about years longer than that) but I'm thinking with Manual Mode, most of the complaints I had about automatics are no longer really an issue... I want manual control 5% of the time, and had to accept manual mode 100% of the time in order to have it when I wanted it... but that no longer seems to be the case. More power? Click down. More eco? Click up. Meanwhile, all the rest of the time, the car just does what it's supposed to? Sweet!

Of course I would have to have a tune, because the auto transmission, stock, has a terrible rep. But I'd get a tune anyway, so no problem there.

Would I do all the mods I've done? No, I don't think I would. I mean, I enjoy them, and I enjoyed putting them in and playing around with the car. But I don't think I'd enjoy it as much the second time around. 1.4T, with a tune... would probably be just fine.

Which makes me wonder why I'm in the middle of upgrading my turbo. Crazy!

I bought my Sonic at a time when I desperately needed a new car, and it suited/suits my budget at this time.

If the question is, looking back, would I still choose the Sonic-yes. It's everything I need right now and nothing more or less. She fits my personality and my goals in life, and I love her madly.

If the question is will I replace my Sonic with another Sonic? Probably not. Unless the SS version comes to fruition, or the RS gets more balls, I'm moving on to something turbo, and AWD, and uh.. STi.. Lol.

Ok guys I have a 2012 1.8 ls manual and a 2013 1.8 lt auto. I have never driven a 1.4 turbo but I will tell you this I would definitely buy another sonic automatic. I see nothing wrong with the 1.8 at all. My ls is the basic sonic with no options at all. So im in sonic heaven with the lt model lol.

Nope! Once I get this missing coolant problem fixed, the car is going away.

No I would not buy the 1.4 manual again. Between the throttle lag, tip in, and DMF it is the most awkward driving car and absolutely wrecks the driving experience. Yes it's that bad IMO.

Love every other aspect of the car though. Styling, power, fuel mileage, comfort etc.

So maybe I'm 50/50. I'd buy it again just with the 1.4 auto.

Strange. Sounds like your car has issues. My 1.4 manual does not suffer from ANY of the conditions you described.

That's the question I answered on the poll... but I think the more interesting question is, would you buy the same Sonic you did the first time.

Note several people saying I would buy a Sonic but I would get the 1.4T instead of the 1.8. Note the lack of people saying I would get the 1.8 instead of the 1.4T.

Similarly, I'm very interested in people discussing whether they'd move from Auto to Manual or vice versa.

i'm only 2 weeks into mine, and yes i would, i came from a full size chevy truck, my only comlpaint so far is no auto dim mirror and idiot lights instead of gauges,

There is a "how to" somewhere on this site on changing out the mirror.

On the dummy lights, ultragauge solves that.


But I voted yes, and I would buy either the exact car again or an RS
