Clutch pedal clicking

wow i am so glad i found this thread.
i have had this problem for about 3 months of the 6 i have owned my sonic.
every time that i bring it to the dealer, they spray there miracle lube on it then its hush hush for a couple weeks, then it comes right on back where it left off.
now when i question my dealer, the service manager tells me it is normal and nothing wrong with it, then i politely ask him, if it is normal than why doesn't the one on the showroom floor make this click noise ? i got nothing in return so i took my car and left.
what i have done now is contacted chevy corporate and since i have had this in the shop multiple times for this they are going to open a technical service case for this and research it further.
i know and understand this does nothing to most of us but annoy us, but we pay for a good and nice car, so i want a defect free car. makes sense to me anyways.
has anyone else ever called the corporate ?

Hey, happens to the best of us.
I haven't called corporate, but I don't really find it that big an issue. As far as anyone can tell, it's simply an annoying click, and that's fine by me. I either turn my radio up, or recently, just roll my window down and jam with the exhaust.

I took my car in to the dealer because I have a child. This being the main reason I bought a car with a 5star crash rating. But what scares me is the side to side and the pop. Any object with play and and a loud enough sound to be audiable can be wearing. This binding and nonsense scares me. I know how to stop my car but in an emergency still may take precious seconds.

I had earlier posted the CRC White Lithium Grease reduced the sound. I then went into the garage, pressed the pedal in and the click is back in full force. Scratch that CRC stuff unfortunately.
I've got some side to side play in my clutch pedal as well. I am still of the opinion it is a master cylinder issue. If the piston shaft is binding it may eventually fail. This would render the car undrivable. This may be worst case, it's been going through my mind as I listen to that sound.

That is exactly my point. I don't want it to fail. If its got play and noise it will in time fail. No doubt. I'm not saying tomorrow but it will happen. As well as this fact makes me uncomfortable driving my sonic. And until the problem is fixed I'm going to complain. Looks like I should have bought the focus ST now.

I don't want it to fail either. However, failure will result in something being done to address the problem. At this point the dealer seems to leave you with a feeling of "you bought our cheapest car, deal with it." I'm certainly considering my options only a month into owning the car.
I had/have this same problem too. I got annoyed to the point where i just sprayed wd-40 on it and it acutally worked-with the execption that the click comes back on occasion (for every 100 times i press the clutch pedal, i'll hear the click maybe 2-3 times...not bad, IMO lol). but the play is still there, so i'll mention it when i take it to a dealer on Monday.
Also, i couldn't help but notice how much everyone "loves" dealing with the customer service of the service dept. I've spoken in person and over the phone with 2 different Chevy dealers 100 miles apart (sf bay area & stockton) and they were both pretty apathetic to my concerns. I'd say that's pretty bad.

well just got my car back from the dealer on this, after multiple calls to and from my local GM rep (thats in texas and i am in ohio LOL)
they have ordered a new switch.
hopefully they have come up with a different switch by now.

Yes I plan to take it to a dealer. Not the one I bought it from or the one that fixed it last. That dealer has to be the worst in the u.s. I am extremely dissapointed in this car. I have had 40yo vehicles in better shape. I love the sonic but hate all the bs that I have been given.

Well I brought in my car to get this switch put in and then they tell me it is the whole pedal assembly.
So they gave me a rental (HHR)
Hopefully the new one don't click
But I just hit the 18k mark. And for the most part. I love my sonic
