I too have noticed an obnoxious clicking sound at the top of the clutch pedal throw. I'm going to try the WD-40 application. Thanks OlderTech.

Unfortunately the WD-40 didn't make a difference. On further inspection (I hope I'm using the proper terminology) the slave cylinder seems to be the culprit. It seems to pop when pressing on the clutch pedal. I've got around 1,600 miles on my Sonic and just noticed this sound about 30 miles ago. I'm going to drop it by a Chevy dealer for professional opinion.

Funny, I was just about to look around for a thread like this and I saw it was at the top. My pedal just started clicking. Just hit 10000 miles. Clicks both at the top and bottom of the throw, so I'm curious what you find out Bryan.
Tried WD-40 as well and no difference noticed. Looking forward to hearing what happens at your dealer. -Thanks
The dealer said it was the spring so I went home, took off the spring and guess what? it still clicks without the spring on... I've given up on it recently but the popping is becoming more and more annoying. The weathers been crappy lately or else I'd have the windows down which blocks it out. I'm hoping someone finds a fix.

Thank you for addressing and researching this issue Chevrolet Customer Service. It's a minor gripe, but it is a bit disheartening to hear that sound every time you make a gear selection.
I spoke to three local dealerships today regarding the issue. Non of them had seen or heard of this issues before. No service bulletins have been released as of yet. I didn't have an opportunity to leave the vehicle with them for a more in depth observation. Mostly a lot of head scratching and speculation going on as of yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for an answer.

My sonic has been at my local dealer for a week now they Ordered a clutch pedal assembly and where going to go over the old one once it was out but yet have I received any info except my parts came in and the tech is having a time. But I have had my sonic for 3 weeks they have now had it for two weeks.

That's brutal man, I hope the new pedal fixes the problem. In my car the sound seems to be coming from the master cylinder. I attached a picture of the assembly. The green arrow points to the plastic fitting that connects to the pedal.
There a little bit of play between the pedal and the plastic fitting, but the sound seems to come from the piston shaft. It's almost as if the the hydraulic pressure in the mastercylinder is reduced periodically allowing for some play in the piston travel before the presure builds.
My fingers are crossed that it's the pedal. Let us know how things go Inferno. Thanks for the info.

i am so sceptic at this point i have had this car for less than a mounth and i am already havin that i should have bought a honda feeling. im sorry i love my sonic but i hate the customer service i have had to call the dealer to even get an update. i have had so much trouble out of this car. not only do i suspect the turbo to be going on it way out. but the dealer drilled a hole in it to pdr a dent. now this. im just not happy with my first brand new chevy.

I hear ya brother. I will say that in late 2006, my wife and I bought new 2007 Hondas. My wife got the newly redesigned (that year) CR-V and I the Civic coupe.
Within 3,000 miles the CR-V began to make a horrible whirring noise when making left or right turns. In addition, the tires would squeal like the parking brake was on. It turned out that the rear differential was not working. I had it in the dealer 4 times before they finally replaced the rear diff clutch assembly. Turns out that Honda was using the wrong type of oil in the diffs of the early production 2007 CR-Vs.
Within 10,000 miles the air conditioning on my Civic failed. They replaced the entire unit under warranty.
The point is, it's not uncommon to need warranty repairs on new vehicles. However, it is extremely disappointing when it's happens.
The service you have experienced with your dealer is unfortunate as well. I too have had poor service from my dealer. I haven't even heard a peep from the salesman who sold me the car (we bought two cars that day). I've tried to reach him and the service department and have not heard a word. The only correspondence I've gotten was from the sales manager who wanted to make sure I marked COMPLETELY SATISFIED on my survey. As you may guess, I've never had a worse experience buying a car then I had at this particular dealership. Thus I have taken my business to another Chevy dealer.

I was a Honda tech for 3years and really I understand how warranty works. But what I don't understand is how it takes 5 days to get parts. I have had to ship parts from Japan and they didn't take 5 days. The service dose not compare to the big three Japanese companies. That is my complaint. I own a 2012 fit and I understand there are issues but Chevy needs to step it up on service and quality assurance. We bought entry level cars but if they don't last I'll be buying another brand next time.
