I really have to laugh when people on this board think an acceptable solution to our grinding problem is to put fancy oil in the transmission. That's not even acceptable on 150,000 mile cars you are trying to get a few thousand more miles out of before the big repair bill.... but it's still often used as a remedy in that case.

For some reason my lawyer has not filed the my complaint yet I spoke with him last week and they are working on the complaint. I cannot wait for a resolution on this matter.

Klystron, you have a 2012, right?

Then they replaced the transmission with another one. Did it look like the 2013 shifter arm, or the 2012?

The '13 has a nut that is exposed and the '12 has it covered underneath a plug that needs to be removed to take it off.

I have a '13. It has had this problem from day 1. I have had three transmissions in the car, three shifters, two flywheels, three clutches, etc. You should not even have to change the oil to resolve this problem. If GM picked the wrong oil then that's their problem. When the car is brand new and in spec this problem should not occur unless there is a design problem. Why you guys love this car so much as to defend this design problem as repairable with different oil is beyond me.

This. I haven't done the oil change either though. But sitting through multiple trans swaps? Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

If you put more oil in it there will be more fumes to vent. I gots bronchitis and can't take it.

They may fix it someday and they may not. In the meantime I will pursue this case under my state's lemon law and hopefully get another (non-GM) vehicle after this is settled.

I always self diagnosis the problems with my car then tell them what the symptoms are and if they don't come to a knowledgeable conclusion then I'll refuse to let them service my car. I'm not saying that I always know the problem but I have a good idea of what it might be and if they come to a different issue I'll listen and see if that is the issue. But if I go in for one thing and they say that it is fine or just throw parts at it, I'm not going there again.

I typically agree, however this is a brand new car under warranty and I expect GM to make it right. Before the work was first done on the car around 2200 miles it kept getting progressively worse. The same thing has happened as the car has gotten more mileage since they stopped working on it. I have had the grind as low as 2500 rpm (but on a very steep hill.)
