Cold Air Intake with stock airbox

Ya must be some type of intake silencer

After I removed the white bag it dawned on me that it probably isn't a muffler of any type.It's probably filled with silica to absorb any moisture that might make its way into the air box.

Back in it goes for me.

Def charcoal I tore mine open getting it out. Lol lucky for me I had the lid off the car.!

It's got to be for moisture. I grape aped mine taking it out too.

I thought that also but ive never seen that in any stock intake box

I did a Google search and I guess it's common to have a charcoal filter somewhere hidden in the airbox or in the tube. The general consensus is that it's for catching escaping emmisions when the car is off.

Probably not.

I'm not really sure if it made a difference or not because I was changing a lot of other parts of the intake when I noticed it. I have to agree with Eric, I doubt it would really make much difference

Does this mod give you the loud suction sounds that the $$ intakes do?

Never heard the $$ intakes in person but I would assume they are louder. With my radio off though I can really hear the turbo now, I think a conical filter in place of the SAB will get it about as loud as it will get and not be far off from the $$ intakes. But that's just sound, when it comes to function I'm sure the RNI is no competition for the $$ intakes

My RNI sounded better than the Injen and somewhat the same as the DDM.
