Cracked air intake piping

They also changed the rubber type. From "NBR+PVC" to "LSEPDM". Feels totally different. I'm still pissed I had to buy this, seems like it should be covered under warranty for the power train.

I looked up the part number for the new material one by taking the part number from the picture cheddar lump posted and it apparently doesn't exist. I can't find it anywhere haha.

ahhh okay it was 94537633 I thought the 6 was an 8. Thanks for posting will definitely switch over if I have any problems. Mine has been fine for the 6k miles I've had the car but just incase.

Hate to join the club, but another 2014 1.8 @ 45k miles with the same issue. Cracked at the same place as all the previous pictures.

My CEL came on while driving to work a few weeks ago and gave me a P0101 and P0171 code. I checked it out and couldn't find any cracks in the tube. The light then decided to clear itself on my drive back home.
This weekend my CEL turns back on with the same codes - I look at my engine and there is the big crack. Put some duct tape on the tube, cleared the code, and my CEL came back on - now with a P0597... you just can't win with these cars.

Just ordered a replacement - hope it arrives soon.

Just found this problem on my car also. It was craked at the top and the bottom. I decided to spend the extra money and get the K&N short ram air intake. Metal tubing to the engine so no worries about it splitting again.

Joining the cracked air intake club

I just had this problem. 2012 1.8L, 77K miles.

I don't know how long it was cracked but never felt any issues with it until I was pushing it harder than normal up a hill and it didn't want to do it, even after I downshifted. Immediately threw up the CEL which turned out to be P0101. It went away for a while then came back later with P0171 but still no noticeable performance issues. Went to change the air filter and it all became clear... big tear in the hose.

No luck finding this part at the part stores so I guess I'm going to the dealership :blankface:

If the car has been running lean for some time, it could really muck up the engine. You are still under warranty. I would get to the dealer and get everything documented. You will likely need a rebuild in the future.

Probably true, but do you think any issue will show up from that before the warranty runs out?

I get the valves and pistons, but how does it affect the head gasket? I'd also guess it could affect the cat and O2 sensors, but I'd be more worried about those if it was running rich.
