Cracked air intake piping

This is true, and a good idea, however, I did have a friend of mine help out with it so the job is done. I will agree that forums (no matter what for) are a great place to exchange info and ideas.

The Saga of the deteriorating intake hose continues. My 2012 LTZ was smitten by the bad hose bug. I had to replace the intake hose as others here have done. Mine has a small number of miles over 40K with the earlier production part. The actual replacement was easy enough. I am wondering how much GM wants to keep customers when they realize things like this cause ill feelings with the loyal few.

I think it must be an oxidation/environmental thing. I think I win the prize for the lowest mileage intake hose failure.

48,070 KM (29,869 miles)

Amazing, really. It looks like lace and is clearly doing absofarkinglutely nothing.

For my fellow Canucks, replacement part from the local stealership is $63.43 +HST as of today.

The car is bucking and kicking like a rodeo ride. Need to get it fixed this weekend. If anyone in Durham region wants to come play, you are welcome, but looking at it quickly this morning it looks like a pretty simple fix.

Just back from the dealership - this is the same place that caused me much grief on my fog lights - and they gave me a $15 preferred customer discount. Huh. Nice of them.

Job's done. Literally a 10 minute driveway job. Use an 8mm socket on a 1/4" drive socket because space is tight for the lower bolt. If you have a shorty, so much the better. The difference in the car's behaviour is night and day. Really incredible. Feels so much more confident.

My pipe was rotted out at the top and bottom.

I had my intake hose go at 40,000km.

So it looks like I'm going to need to replace my piping as well. Check engine light is back on. Just want to make sure this ->OUTLET DUCT | Genuine GM | 94537633
is the right part that I need to order.
Besides taking the old one off and putting this new one on, is there anything I need to do with the car?

We had to replace the dry rotted air intake hose on our 2012 sonic last December Friday we parked it at the airport short term parking lot I went to get it and the button on the shifter is stuck and wont come out of Park.

This just happened to me, I got code p0171, two days ago. Looked it more today and found it is cracked right up under the elbow. I hate to take it to a mechanic for something that seems simple to fix that I can do myself. Anyone know of where I can buy a better part?
I've got an LT 1.8L 2013 with 52,000 miles.
I've already had to replace the thermostat, what's next...

It just happened to me




To get check engine light off electrical tape to the rescue. Just tapped up started ran idle for 5 minutes and drove for a couple miles and light went off
